Cheer up Charlie, urges Caley chief

Inverness chief executive Graeme Bennett has urged Charlie Christie not to take defeats to heart amid reports he may quit.

Caley lost 3-1 at home to Scottish Premier League bottom club Dunfermline on Saturday to end their top-six hopes.

And Christie, 40, is reported to have told the players after the game he could leave his post in May.

Bennett told the Scottish Daily Express: "I have heard the same thing but I haven't spoken to Charlie directly about the situation.

"What I would say is that Charlie is quite an emotional guy and maybe he has made these comments to the players in the heat of the moment.

"He has obviously been disappointed after the defeat, but in these situations it is important not to get too low and not to go overboard when you win.

"Charlie, though, just seems to take the defeats a lot harder than he should.

"There are some aspects of the job, off the field, which Charlie has struggled to adapt to but he is doing a great job for Inverness.

"We are certainly fully behind Charlie, and as far as we are concerned, we are looking at him being in the job over the longer term."

Well said :025:
