A sad loss, after a long and distinguished career in sports broadcasting (as well as being a former Brain of Britian and semi-finalist on Mastermind!)

Many would say that he should have had the letters OBE after his name long before RIP, and I would tend to agree.

Aye, a very sad loss indeed. I always rememeber his talks to camera on Scotsport on a Sunday afternoon back in the 1970s - he always had some interesting or thought-provoking to say. His talks were always well researched and use of words and language always a pleasure to hear.

One of the very best sports journalists of all time. His contributions whether in print, on television or on radio were always worth paying attention to even if he did speak out against Caley Thistle's admission to the league.

He didnt get some form of honour after his long career in broadcasting ? I didnt realise that and think its quite wrong.

Used to spend many hrs listneing to his radio commentary in the 80s. Midweek games spring to mind for some reason. RIP BOB

Yes, I think it's really awful that Bob Crampsey didn't get an honour of some kind. Tam and Stuart on Off The Ball had a campaign to get a Bob an honour and I seem to recall they had quite a bit of support.  Great pity that he wasn't given the recognition he deserved.

Brilliant quote on Reporting Scotland tonight. He once described a player as "marginally quicker than coastal erosion"  :rotflmao:
