  1. Smashing result for us today. Celtic reserves or not I don't care. We've played their supposed B sides before and been well and truly smashed and I was expecting more of the same today truth be told. These games are freebies really and you don't expect to get much from them but in the end I thought we were well worth the three points today. Our defence coped well with Celtic's attacks and when they did get through Brill was able to keep them at bay with some smart saves from Ambrose, Griffiths and also the help of the bar. Our midfield two of Tansey and Draper dominated midfield the latter spending most of the game bench pressing the Celtic players into submission. Williams again had a very good game on the left, Christie was a bit quiet compared to recent weeks but Watkins turned in a stunning display and Mckay worked his damnedest but ultimately got no personal reward however his pressure inadvertently let to the goal. I didn't think we played as we did against Motherwell last week for the entire 90 minutes today but that was probably going to be a tall order. To begin with we continued to pass, move and receive well continuing the good work from Fir Park. As the first half wore on Celtic came into things a lot more and we seemed to pass and, erm, stand still. Players weren't offering themselves for the ball as they had been doing and this seemed to coincide with the momentum of the game switching. Watkins, who had been tormenting the Celtic left flank was suddenly redundant on the right side of the pitch and couldn't get involved for a time. Ambrose coolly placed a side footed lob towards goal but Brill was alert to tip it over. Celtic then had a fantastic flowing exchange of passes that carved our defence apart and let Commons or Pukki (I think) in but fortunately they couldn't find the back of the net. Briton had that wicked shot crash off the bar after he easily spun away from his marker. It was a cracking effort but just before this we looked like we had a clear penalty turned down by Madden. We started the second half well and started to press Celtic a lot more than the latter parts of the first half. Whilst we still played some of the Hughes style short passing game we also weren't afraid to go direct when we got a chance which was pleasing. However Celtic probably had the first good chance of the half when ICT conceded possession in the Celtic half and the ball was worked to Griffiths who thumped a low drive at Brill who held on to it well. Whilst it was a routine save I was concerned it might slip through his grasp. When we took the lead it was no surprise it came down the right as Watkins had started to influence the game again down that side. His direct run led to a dangerous ball being fired across goal. Mckay and Zaluska both went for it and, I'm not quite sure what happened, but it looked liked it bounced off them both and then into the net off O'Connell who was racing back to help out. After that we started to sit much deeper and conceded possession to Celtic whilst we were content to hit on the break. Celtic struggled to break us down and we should have increased our lead after some shambolic defending from Celtic allowed the ball to drop at the feet of Christie but his placed effort curled wide of the goal. Whilst the rest of the game was largely Celtic probing trying to find a way through we had the best chance of the final few moments when Williams led a counter and crossed to find Nick Ross but, having waited for Zaluska to go down, his shot to the keepers left was at a nice height for Zaluska to desperately stick up his hand to palm it wide. A fantastic result but I do hope we are more clinical in the weeks ahead and that we also get some chances for Mckay to convert. He seems to ploughing a lone furrow right now and our attack could be doing a bit more for him i feel. The defence however looks rock solid and Raven, a player who I wouldn't mind us trying to replace if we can get someone better in, showed some fantastic touches today. Not as good as my MotM Watkins though who royally roasted a Celtic player on the touchline with a Cruyff turn. Looking forward to the visit of Killie next week.

  3. No contribution from me during the match I just couldn't take my eyes of the screen. A great win a great match and dont't be kidded We didn't allow the Tic's the chance to play through us we out foxed them. Biased pundits claiming the Tics werent pkaying well lol......... They were trying their damndest but seldom getting through and when they did Deano was brilliant, alert, quick to react and playing a true Keepers role. Have read through your running comments IHE and agree. will give you a ten for that. Yogi's critics Brills critics ICT :notworthy:

  4. Celtic boss Ronny Deila on BBC Radio Scotland Posted at 14:41 "In the first half we had three very big chances and they had nothing. The second half was more even and we were too passive. I wanted more intensity in the final 20 minutes but Inverness played well, so congratulations to them." A little bit of sour grapes, perhaps, then the grudging admission which served to explain away the loss...."ICT played well Mr Deila, this result will not happen too many times to your team this season so you could easily have not said the first 14 words and shown your class by giving our team the accolade and left it at that. On the day you failed. Still, your job is on the line already since you are somewhat of a new and unknown quantity at Parkhead and the Celtic hordes won't tolerate too many days out like this I'm afraid.

  5. No need fer the Smileymometer today - FIVE Smileys awarded to Watkins, Draper and Brill wit Watkins MOM - four to all others concerned. Four clean sheets an 10 points out of 12 a testament to a certain John "Yogi" Hughes who must have changed the system at least 4-5 times during the game. Some may have appeared dodgy but they worked.

  6. Fantastic result. You can only beat what's put in front of you. That doesn't apply to Celtic though, who couldn't beat what was put in front of them.

  7. Acceptable for me is seeing the lads going out and giving 100% every week.....and it's been a long time since we failed in that regard. Do that and, other than the odd dodgy decision by the ref, we'll get our just rewards. Can't ask for more than that, IMO.

  8. Many ICT fans were outraged at the appointment of Yogi. Trolls such as 'Top Six Next Year' and 'RIG' vented their fury. But look at us now. Are the trolls ready to repent and admit that Yogi and Caley Thistle are made to be. Posted from the Nags Heed after our 7-6 demolition of Grimsby ;)

  9. Terrific result! Watched the first half on the telly down here and we looked pretty good...Watkins especially, and surprisely Billy didn't look so isolated as in some recent games. Looks like the team are buying into Yogi's style of play, a few more wins like this and we can be pretty sure we should be safe for another season! BTW great to see the surfer flag laid out in the main stand Didn't see the second half as I had to go and watch a car crash! (Palace)

  10. You can only beat what is put in front of you......and we did! Heard CBBC (Central Belt Broadcasting Corporation) waxing lyrical about Hamilton today (small club, no budget, playing good football, punching above weight etc). Maybe fair, but sounded like a description of a more northerly, table-topping team to me!

I'm not totally surprised that they are interested in Billy Mckay because they just sold their striker Britt Assombalonga for £5M Just to note, I seen on twitter that Billy Mckay is following the Peterborough chairman on Twitter.....

  18. Anyway, I'm sure as everyone who could be bothered going today will know, that was a wonderful performance. The defence and attacking play were both excellent and it is testament to the work being done on the training field. Draper and Brill amongst others were excellent, as was Marley Watkins who I think is our best winger since Barry Robson. Carry on like this, and we could well get into Europe.

  20. Cant get over how in control we were of that game, even if it was Celtic's B team (awaiting that as their excuse). We moved the ball about so well and used our width to full effect. Draper and Tansey bossed midfield yet again and despite one or two moments are back four looked very solid and Deano stood firm when called upon. Celtic never really got into a stride, they looked dangerous after half time, MacGregor made some nice runs for them but they seemed to run out of ideas fast and we were looking more confident with every surge forward. We forced them into that OG, was a brilliant ball in from Watkins and it caused all kind of confusion in the box, Marley looked industrious all afternoon and if he couldnt score then making the OG makes up for it. The work rate was top notch, everyone put in a shift from front to back and we dug deep towards the end to shut Celtic out, nerve wracking end to the game but so worth it. The title is ours to throw away...

  23. Happy clappers that said naysayers wanted ICT to fail as it was 'personal' against Yogi A great result like this and the usual suspect tried to make it 'them' and 'us'. Everyone wants ICT to win! Everyone wants Yogi to succeed! As many did with Butcher, all naysayers want to hold their hands up and say their wrong. Amazing this still needs said.... Absolutely right. This is the poster of course who constantly attacks other posters no-matter what. Sad that somebody just can't enjoy the win but has to make it all about them as well. Negative and tiresome in the extreme. Think we'll find as well that almost all the prominent "Yogi Naysayers" were at the game today, while this superfan was not.

  24. Superb display. Our players looked comfortable and confident with the Hughes style, lot of good passing and possession. Watkins was absolutely outstanding and easily the crowd's choice for MotM. His trickery and creative opening up of the right flank was wonderful to watch, and created the goal. We could have finished two or three up, very heartening to see that we didn't try and sit on the lead, but kept taking the game to them. On this evidence we have every reason to look forward to a good season. I can't see any reason why we should fear any team in the league - rather the reverse.

As Sneckboy said last Saturday: "It'll be very difficult to keep Celtic quiet for a full 90 mins next week - but if we can....we'll be close to our all-time shut-out record! Let's say we do keep a 'clean sheet' on Saturday - that will be our current 418 + 90 = 508 minutes. Tantalisingly close to our record of 513! That was set back in 2006." Yup, Sneckboy does pull out some very interesting stats most weeks ....

  32. Fabulous win. Well deserved. We were the better team by miles in second half. Everyone a hero, but for me I must pick out Watkins, Raven and Brill as my men of the match. I have often been less than convinced by Brill, but today he was outstanding. Well done to all concerned.

  36. So basically a bunch of PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS struggled doing this and you are only giving £100 for it, i doubt many people could get it in a boot of a car from 7 yards never mind 67!!!!! Must be nice to have so much money that £100 is such an insignificant amount! That's not what he said. He said that doing something that a professional footballer can't is worthy of a bigger prize. No where does he say that £100 is a trivial sum

  38. I nearly crashed into Big Marv half an hour ago! Was at the roundabout near Broxden services, presumably he was stopping there on his way up to Elgin for their game today. This vehicle pulled out when it shouldn't have done, forcing me to brake, so I had a look at who was driving and thought he looked familiar, then I noticed a Trinidad flag sticker in the back window and a personalised number plate along the lines of SOCA as in Socca Warriors. As for why he pulled out when he shouldn't have......maybe God told him to go!

  41. It would be too late because we would have voted to stay and wouldnt have another one so soon after so don't expect another for 25+ years unless something huge happens like the uk leaving europe and even that might not be enough! I don't think it is as simplistic as that. What is for certain is that there is no going back if there is a "YES" vote. If we vote "YES" and then regret it we could only ever return to the UK if the rest of the UK wanted us back - and they won't. If it is a "NO" vote then I think it all depends on the strength of feeling. If polls showed a consistent majority in favour over 5 or 10 years or so then I can't see how the UK Government could ignore that. If a majority of Scots voters consistently demonstrate they want independence then we will have it. Up to this point in time, the majority of Scottish voters have consistently indicated that they do not want independence and therefore now is not the time to take such an irrevocable step.

  42. Wow, thanks for the taking the time! I've looked at each link and there's nothing that remotely answers the question or substantiates Alex's claim, just scaremongering. That's not to deny that the NHS has huge funding challenges that will need to be addressed, both up here and down south, as DoofersDad has discussed - but let's separate fact from fiction. Besides, Health is already a devolved power, the Scottish government can allocated as much or as little of its resources to it as it wants, and if it doesn't think it has enough money it also has the power to raise the rate of income tax.

Administration pending, unless... How can we go from SupercaleygoballisticCelticareatrocious in the year 2000, to Scottish Cup Winners in 2015, playing in Europe and just 9 years after lifting the Cup; Administration. Mismanagement and our demise was hastened by the appointment of Scot Gardiner. Ever since then, ludicrous decision making has seen our stock plummet whilst 'shady' dealings were investigated. The failed Concert Company, the Battery Storage, the Statkraft contract have all ended badly leaving the club facing insolvency.

That's another fine mess you've got us into.

      Chairman Ross Morrison resigns

Nothing official from the club as we speak, but the Inverness Courier are running with a story that Ross Morrison has resigned at 18:00 tonight 3rd June.  More to come as this story develops, but most fans are looking for more heads to roll.

Speaking exclusively to The Inverness Courier, Mr Morrison said he is leaving now because of the aftermath of the Fife move. “I believe it [the move to Fife] is the best way forward and I have to stick with my beliefs,” Mr Morrison said. “This is the reason I'm stepping down now.”

Reflecting on his time with the Caley Thistle, Mr Morrison said: “My six-year tenure with the club has had some great and some not so great times but through everything I was immensely proud to be the chairman of the club and clubs I’ve supported for 50 years - I was a Jaggie by the way.

“I would ask the fans to rally round the club at this time and show their support by not only purchasing their season tickets but also getting involved directly with the club to see how they can help.

“Hearing fans saying they would prefer administration to training the first team in Kelty sent a shiver down my spine. Administration is a desperate thing to happen to a club and must, at all cost, not happen to ICTFC.”
