As I have always said - any team would benefit from having Terry Butcher as their Ambassador or Director of Football. I am surprised that he hasn't considered that himself.

I almost agree with Bughtmaster but I think things have moved on.  Players may have come up here because of Butcher but now there will be a recognition that several players whose careers apeared to be going nowhere have come good in a big way up here.  The club is developing a reputation for getting results beyond what you might expect for its budget and therefore players have really got nothing to lose by coming up here.  The Butcher name will be far less important than it was.

 

I also agree that there is no reason why we should lose players this season and no reason why the team should not progress to success at the end of the season.  But what we will not do is win the league.  Yes, Celtic can be beaten but they won't be beaten often.  If we move into a clear 2nd place we will be there to be shot down and other teams will up their game against us.  Celtic have the quality and depth to cope with that, I'm afraid we don't.  I am, however, confident that this could still be a very, very good season for us.

To re-iterate DD's last paragraph Celtic, to all intents and purposes, are out of Europe. I don't believe they even have a chance at Europa so they will have no distractions and so will concentrate all efforts into breaking away from the rest. We need to concentrate on our game and keep following them

Let me clarify D. D. I am not saying we will win the league, though it is possible . However I do believe we will go above Celtic at some point this season even if it is only for a short spell. (i.e. providing we get our second half act together)   Celtic have a lot of weaknesses this season plus they are driven not coached and do not have the same will as ICT.

Before the league started I said Celtic would not win the league this season, I still don't think they will but I don't know who is going to win it. It is an open league with a lot of games yet to be played, who knows what can happen. It is going to be an exciting finish.

I hope you could be right about the Butcher name/player advancement through ICT theory, certainly Terry hasn't done himself any favours over this saga and has blotted his copy book IMHO
