Casino Night

Got really excited when I saw that the club were organising a Casino Night at the stadium as these things can be a good laugh.

That was until I noticed it was starting at 7pm on 27th October....the day we are away to Gretna!!!  :029:

I noticed that too and pointed it out. I'm sure it will sell out regardless as it's reasonably priced and as it's at the stadium they can't accomodate very high numbers anyway.

That may be the case LG, but I don't think it sends out a very good message when the club run an event which may well reduce the numbers traveling to support the team.

I'm sure I won't be the only one going to Gretna that would have loved to have gone to an event like this and I'm certain we'll have people that will go to this instead of traveling to support the team.

Not only that, but we constantly see club officials and players in the papers asking fans to get behind the team and up our support and then they go and hold an event which we would have to forgo giving that support in order to attend.

This could very well be an important game for us in terms of putting a bit of space between us and Gretna (or vice versa) and the team will need all the support it can muster.  If this event stops even one person from attending the match then it is one person too many IMO.

The club wonder why the fans get so disgruntled when they can't even look at the fixture list before organising an event!!!

I suspect they chose an away game to utilise the stadium when they have no hospitality to move out first.  I agree with you CaleyD, but I suspect they underestimated the away support for the Gretna game. I'm planning Gretna and I know a few others who are going too.  This is over and above the regulars who go to most away games.  (Bus should definitely be a goer for this one)

I think they have priced it for the fans market, so it is a shame that it clashes with such a big game for us.  I won't be missing the game to attend the event, although I would have gone if I was here.

It is good to see that they are trying something different though.

Likewise, Mrs Pauliebee, I was getting excited about this Casino Night but will be at Fir Park that day to boost the numbers against Gretna - on that day especially we must make even more noise, ICT supporters, to drown out the home support!  I've also organised to meet an ICT season ticket holder who is at Uni in the south and hasn't been able to attend many away games - he doesn't believe me about the good atmosphere amongst us - you all have to back me up on this, that day, all travelling support.

Whoever organised this Casino Night should have realised that so many true supporters would be disappointed - the table I would have joined will certainly not be there..... or is there an undercurrent of the organisers not wanting certain supporters to be present.... or is that a paranoid statement?  Once again the feeling of them, and us, and never the twain should meet except when they want our money?

I await being shot down in flames for that suggestion, but?
