Any new immigration system no matter how plausible is probably 15-20 years to late.

For those that arent aware....in their wisdom, the govt has decided to "tighten" up Imigration by inventing a 3 tier points system. In their wisdom, they have decided that there will be vetting in the area where skilled professionals are concerned. You know....the ones that actually bring something to the country. The third tier, which vets the unskilled workers (which make up something like 85% of incomers, where the problems eminate from), well, they have no plans to impliment the action plan in the foreseeable future.

Talk about a waste of time!!

When ordinary folk start thinking about immigration they autimatically think Polish Romanian Bulgarian etc. No legislation is going to stop them coming. Under EEC law members of the European Union have freedom of movement in all member states. The idea behind the legislation is to try and quell the increasing numbers of illegals coming from India Pakistan and China, as well as a few other asian countries. Part of the legislation imposes more realistic sentences on those knowingly employing such illegals.
