Black's behaviour

He is appearing to begin to modify his behaviour in response to bookings(last season) club fines? and being put into to the reserves!

The boy has class but can he sustain his good behaviour?

Under Brewster's leadership, and with his strong hand on discipline ........... yes.

Only two bookings, and a walk-out so far this season. A vast improvement on last year!!

He's playing his best football since he came here at the moment. Today he was class :022:

Agree with that...

Blackie is a very special talent - lots of skill and totally comitted at all times... Players like that often have problems with discipline...

The odd lapse in his discipline is a price well worth paying for such a precocious talent.

You can't screw the nut too tight or you risk killing his spirit.  All he needs to control is the petulance and I think he'd doing a decent job of that.

Basically Black would not be the same player without the edge.

I agree entirely.  I'd rather he got booked for crunching tackles than mouthing off though.

Agree with all the posts above apart from the one being made from up Brewsters erse  :017:

Ian Black?s bookings have been invariably picked up for ridiculous lunges that infuriate opponents and supporters alike.

He has no need whatever to get involved in such nonsense that adds nothing to his game or reputation.

Mee mentions in another thread that Ian's display today is two fingers for those that doubted his ability. I have never, ever, met anybody that doubts Ian?s ability.

Perhaps that is, apart from his dismal attempts on goal which yesterday has gone a little way to balancing.

From the Sunday Herald:

?There is nobody who rates Ian Black higher than I do and sometimes he thinks the world is against him. But it is just a case of him growing up?.

Brewster said it, but I?m sure many who watch Ian would second it.

:012:      Getting tedious now, and I suspect personal . . . .

To be honest he almost spoilt his performance yesterday with a bit of petulance - If he is going to have an edge he had better learn how to wind up an opponent discreetly. He really does bite doesnt he.

see sophia still at it, shame, however back to wee blackie, perfect, he did well, reads the game, shame the rest cant, i agree we cant screw the nut to tight that's what i have been saying all along, hopefully he can continue with these performances.

He seemed to be singled out for some rough treatment by the Hibees today but didn't rise to it. The old Blackie would have gotten at least a booking today. It's been a while since he was mental, but for much of the ensuing period he wasn't playing very well, he'd lost the intensity that he had when he first burst onto the scene - a case of throwing out the baby with the bathwater perhaps?

It looks like he's finally found the right balance.

Bollocks. Simply not true. I'd post more, but it would really be just a long-winded way of saying 'bollocks', so I'll leave it be. Anyone who agrees will understand precisely why the quoted text is bollocks - anyone who doesn't is unlikely to get it after any length of explanation.

ICTChris, agreed about Blackie's mouthing off, but Russell Duncan and more recently Phil McGuire need some serious talking to also.

I'll agree, I'm beginning to find him pretty tedious myself   :012:

Just wondering Mee ........ do you still think Brewster's not up to the job?

Whatever you're opinion it saddens me that you find me tedious - because I think I've fallen in love with you.

I know that, deep down, she wants me.

Thought he was going to lose it today as he was getting hit right, left and centre by the Hibs players. Malky had to give him a shout at one point and he quickly cooled down. His work rate today was incredible  :clapping03:

I agree totally with ICYTEA - Blackie was very well controlled and my man of the match but the whole team was great  :021:

He deserves some kind of an award for taking so much stick today, and refusing to retalliate or react....

It was easy to see what the Hibs guys were trying to do, and it totally backfired on them....  :016:
