If people from Scotland are Scottish, what do you call people from Burkina Faso? It's not a joke, just a random question which I'm just curious to know the answer to because I can't find the answer.

The reason it entered my mind stems from seeing a reference to what people from Niger are called. And it's certainly not what might spring to Ron Atkinson's mind.

I thinking of something like this recently as well. Before people from Newcastle (upon-Tyne) were called Geordies, what were they called?

Are people from Newcastle, New South Wales also known as Geordies? If not, what?

And, what do you call someone from Dingwall? Dingwaller? Dingy? Dingwallian? Or is it just a plain tink?

I'm guessing they're called Newcastrians, on what grounds I can't remember. Obviously Geordies is just a nickname.

Well I've learnt something this week.

People from Niger are Nigeriens, as opposed to Nigerians from Nigeria.

People from Newcastle, NSW are known as Novocastrians. Or if you are from Queensland, everyone from NSW are known as cockroaches.
