In the same way that the All Blacks do the Hakka before a game could the Scottish team maybe do a Gay Gordons?  That, in conjunction with the kits should make sure that the opposition don't get too close.

Scotland played in 'salmon pink' in the early 1900s and have had pink away shirts a couple of times in the 90s. The national Rugby team have also worn pink.   The current away effort (below left) is a horrible partial remake of the traditional Partick-esque pink and yellow hoops from 100+ years ago ... Now if they had said it was for breast cancer awareness or something like that no-one would have batted an eyelid !

As for the tartan shirt, the effort from the early 90s was somewhat better IMHO. The white just does not work. makes it look like a badly screen-printed t-shirt you would put some 'shortbread tin' slogan on and flog to tourists in a tacky shop !

There is an interesting parallel between the increasing garishness of our strips and the decreasing competitiveness of the team, probably started in 1986 or so with those horrendous bi-coloured shorts.
