cant see him being a very good role model for the youngsters... sure hes a nice guy and he was a good player in his day but the fact is he didnt bag anything more than a dose of the clap when he played for us.

doesnt exactly give the kids anything to look up to and respect !

ive no doubt he could teach the kids how to kick a ball but hes not going to become a mister miyagi...

Maybe he wants a coaching role with us but do we want him for a coaching role?

I would think Charlie would have offered him the position before releasing him if we interested

Daily record are saying he wants a coaching role with us, with the under 19 team needing one.Does he have the qualifications?

Didn't know Danny MacDonald and Scott Kerracher were leaving!

He has played the game at a far higher level than Danny, Kellacher, Doc and Charlie put together! Maybe the time has come to engage someone with his playing experience.

Richard Gough was a great player in his time......sh!te coach now though. Alan Hansen...another great player...never made it in the coaching game though.

Being a great player does not always mean your coaching skills are good.

and being an 'ordinary' player doesn't automatically mean you'll be an 'ordinary' coach...

Don't think I said he would be/is a good coach but this life is all about taking chances and you have to start somewhere.

Practical experience in any walk of life is essential before you can progress and believe me, I am very aware that "Being a great player does not always mean your coaching skills are good."

Are you qualified to call Gough a s..te coach? I doubt it very much. Most people who pass such judgement generally don't have a scoobie what they are talking about!

Where did Hansen coach?

Gough.......not one win, except against Morton in a cup game, when he was at Livi.

Hanson.....Didn't coach. Though one of the best tacticians in the game he freely admits himself he could never be a coach.

My qualifications........a **** of a lot more years than I care to admit to in the university of life and a few friends who have been or still are involved in the game.......Oh! and as much right as anyone on this site to form an opinion without being abused for it.

Opinions are OK but you are the one dishing out the abuse by calling Gough a s..te coach!

Uni of Life - Friends in the game- just as I thought, absolutely NO qualifications to pass judgement on anybody! :33:

Is it because he's a friend of yours or because he was at huns for all of the nine-in-a-row seasons that you stick up for him? Or is it just my bad luck that I've been singled out this week as the caleyboy target.

My opinion.......a coach who doesn't win a league game with a club is a sh!t coach. I dont need qualifications to have an opinion.
