Down a place

So our long hold onto 5th position came to an end tonight, as Motherwell beat Aberdeen. Having not won in 11, im rather surprised we have held onto it for so long, although other teams have games in hand.

Could get a whole lot worse on Saturday if we are beaten by the boys from Perth, and Dundee Utd get a win.

Heres to getting back to winning ways on Saturday and climbing back up the league before falling down. Just hope injuries and suspensions give us better options for it :ictscarf:

I agree.... that result hasn't done us any favours.

I think its a given that United will finish above us in the SPL, too many games in hand not to take us.

But with Killie in 4th and only 2 wins above us, its still very tight. Its really still in our hands if we can get the finger out and get back to winning ways. We got lucky for a long while where other results went our way when we have gone without winning, but that was never going to last forever. Hopefully our new faces make us kick on and get back to winning ways.

We have to play United twice in March, they have a backlog of games and they also have a few injuries mounting up so anything can happen. I too though think that Utd will probably sneak in above us but it is still very tight. A run of 3 or 4 wins would change things completely - just look how Killie have faltered recently and not kicked on. There is still a lot to play for.

We shall see, starting on Saturday, if the players really do believe they can claim a top 6 finish. Three points against St.Johnstone is a must.

The teams around us will pick up points and they'll drop points. A top six is still very much on the cards and very much in our own hands. We have to start by taking all three against St J. Hibs have won a couple of games but they are still struggling. Dundee United have not been anything brilliant this season and will start to suffer with injury and backlog. Motherwell are totally lacking in confidence and consistency. Its all doable and in our own hands and if we could get some players back fit in the run in we have the advantage.

Totally agree - the games we have remaining are against those competing for the top 6 finish, while they still have the top teams to play at least once. A winning streak is needed again, draws could be tolerable but of course that means other games have to start "going our way" and losses will definitely create a slide down as it is still very close. Basically, from now on, every win matters more as it will allow us to cement a place at 5th / 6th and start to leave the others behind.

Not quite the excitement of last season but still keeps the interest up.

Maybe a bit of a reprieve for us, Tannadice having a pitch inspection tonight at 17:30.

This situation is all down to our poor run of results whatever way you dress it up.

We were ahead of Hearts and Killie at one point while in the top six. Fingers out before it's too late.

the league place only counts twice a year

split day

last day

other than that i dont mind how much we up and down but as long as we aren't 12th on last day then to be honest as far as i am concerrned the rest is neither here nor there

It's the points on the board that count, everything else is just one big "What If" and not worth getting worked up over. We cannot be deducted points, so it's up to those behind us (regardless of how many games in hand they might have) to do the worrying and chasing.

We're already way beyond what most people expected from us this season and, IMO, have nothing to lose/fear.
