Portsmouth FC are giveing there fans 2 free tickets for takeing snow of the pitch

Portsmouth FC are calling on Pompey fans to get to Fratton Park on Wednesday morning and help clear Fratton Park of ice that threatens the likelihood of Saturday's match against Birmingham taking place.

Fans are being asked to meet at the car park behind the Fratton End at 8:30am with spades, shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows and whatever else might help clear the ice on the walkways, stairs and the edge of the pitch.

Those fans who lend a hand will be rewarded with two free tickets for Pompey's crucial upcoming match with Birmingham City. So if you're free on Wednesday morning and aren't afraid of the cold (and probably wet) weather then get down to Fratton Park!

if ict had giveing out free tickets they will have had even more help from people

I don't see why he should get lambasted for that the first part is just pointing out a fact that Pompey are giving free tickets.

As for the second part would ICT have got more volunteers if the had given free tickets, probably yes, would it have been the right thing to do I am not sure. But I am sure if they communicated with the fans more and not just when they needed help they would have got more volunteers.

6 or 7 years ago, a call to arms would have been answered without all this talk of "What will we get in return". Fans would have been only too happy to be doing their bit and turned up in their droves to ensure the game went ahead....and they would have been well looked after in return.

What's changed? The club works in a different way...in the past volunteers (for anything) would have been welcomed with open arms and efforts would have been appreciated. For the last few years these willing fans have been kept at arms length, or worse, driven away. Our concerns used to be listened to and answers given or action taken...now we're made to feel like an unwelcome, but necessary sufferance.

I've had many conversations with many people involved with the club over the last few years and the one thing I always try to impress on them is the importance of "Good Will". Doing something for the fans should not always be about the bottom line in the accounts, every now and then things should be done because it's the right thing to do, or because it makes people feel good....because when you work in that way then you CAN rely on the fans to pull up their sleeves and get things like pitch clearing done when it's really needed and that's when you get your payback.

If you want the community to help then you have to be a part of it....ICT is not a part of this community, certainly at this moment in time. They are operating/acting like any other entertainment business....the cinema, sports centre or tenpin bowling alley....and it should be no surprise that their customers (the fans) have started reacting to and treating them as such.

As has been said things should be done when its the right time to do them. ICT knew they'd get enough volunteers without offering incentives.

Portsmouth, on the other hand, desparately need this match to go ahead to bring in funds to pay their staff. Thousands of Pompey fans have turned their back on the club so they probably feel they need some incentive to get the fans to help.
