Jim McIntyre sacked

Can only assume that Dunfermline think he was not getting the best out of the squad he has. I'm also assuming that they think someone already on the books will step up and do a better job. After all only last month they could not afford to pay full wages on time and they will now have to pay off this manager.....where would they find funds to employ a new one?

Sensible move.

Jim Leishman will take over again initially and it won't cost them anything more. They may also have a senior player lined up for a developing management role.

They're doomed with McIntyre at the helm so no point keeping him. Whatever the longer term plan is, sacking McIntyre gives his replacement more time to assess what's needed for next season and there is always the possibilty that the management change could give the team a lift and get them away from the relegation spot.

Very good move if the outcome of the Rangers saga is that Rangers are not in the SPL next season and the bottom club will not get relegated in any case.

Looks like someone coming on short term. The assistant manager has been kept till the new man comes in. IIain turner released from his loan deal too as injured. Looks Luke usual suspects in the mix calderwood jeffries. et al. And haven't a clue how they intend to pay for it.

One other option , if they can't afford the financial costs of releasing him, would have been to simply not allow him to function as manager and telling someone else within the club to take over these duties.

This would be morally devastating to the Manager and not the right thing to do but if the club feels that desperate measures are justified, because they cannot afford the cash outlay of terminating his contract, then the only argument that they could probably muster in favour of such a move would be that they felt to save it then clearly they must feel that his presence can do nothing more for the protection of the club and its future.

The object would be, in this case, to try to force him to leave but it would also cause even more confusion -- i.e if he was to hang around instead of departing without a settlement.

Pity that club--their troubles never seem to cease. Hopefully, the wisdom of the Caley Thistle Board will prevail in all future events affecting our club and they can weather all future financial storms.

Phew!

I would take a guess and say they will re-appoint Calderwood. Did very well the first time there and took over Killie and County on short term deals towards end of seasons to try and save them. Albeit, not as late as this and in far better positions than DAFC.

Other option would be giving Jim Leishman the role as well as the DOF role he already does. However, he's running in the council elections for New Labour so couldn't see him being able to carry out these roles at once.

Any other manager out of football wil probably be a candidate as well. Could be a win win for a manager out of football. For example, Jim Jeffries takes over untill the end of the season, they get relegated he moves on. No harm to his CV as they look doomed anyway and JJ gets a healthy wage for a couple of months. However, if he keeps them up, then this will boost his CV significantly.

Rules on this were changed. If Rangers get booted then bottom team still gets relegated and 2 teams come up instead.

Facing a tribunal for constructive dismissal would end up costing them more then simply paying him off.
