As kids we used to think they were great counting them out and waiting for goodies to arrive in the post, I am glad I grew up wiser!

​Walker's Emporium. They published a lot of local postcards bearing their name. Looks like a postcard stand near the door.

I don't remember any of the shops except Barneys which is still here today!  Cars on street Hillman Minx, don't know large black one, black Austin A55, Hillman Husky van, Austin Cambridge, in car park 2 Austin A 30's, Mini with large roof rack (the early ones had a hinge on the top of the rear number plate so you could leave the boot open when driving as the boot was so small), Standard 8, Jaguar Mk10, Ford Zepher, the large tail fins of a Vauxhall Cresta, front and rear of 2 Ford Popular's  and a Morris FG van like ones you have driven yourself 'weeman' with no heater or power steering!

Not as much as that :ohmy: £3 per week for 40 hours in WM Low Supermarket in 1972 ( a pittance) went up to £5 after a year, only stayed there 18 months.

The Luftwaffe view of Sneck

​Interesting that there only seem to be two areas within Inverness that the Luftwaffe thought it needed to bomb - the Longman Airfield and the Merkinch!

Presumably the German thinking was that, come D Day, there would be far less chance of it succeeding if they could get rid of the boys from the Ferry first!
