Supporters Trust Appeal for Club Volunteers

In our Press Statement on Wednesday, we mentioned that we would be seeking volunteers to assist the club.

Scott Young approached Laura Grant, one of our Board members, this afternoon to see if the Supporters Trust could provide volunteers to allow the Sports Bar to be open tomorrow.

Laura was delighted to assist and has found volunteers which means that the Sports Bar will now be open from 1 pm tomorrow, with last orders at 2.30 pm and the bar fully closed at 2.45 pm.

This is an early example of how beneficial volunteer fans can be to the club, and we hope that many fans attending the game tomorrow will now be able to enjoy a pre-match drink (or two) in the Sports Bar, providing the club with additional income.

A number of the Trust Board members will be there, both behind the bar and as customers, so please say hello to them.

The Supporters Bar being open today is, we hope, the first of many ways in which the Trust, its members and the wider fan base can assist the club in these difficult times.

If anyone is free on Sunday, the Supporters Trust will be delighted to hear from you. This is a copy of an e-mail to members today:

Hi Members 

 

Some of you may already know that the Supporters Trust have been volunteering to get the Sports Bar open at every home game since the league season started. Those of you who have joined us may have noticed that along with the improved wit & banter that the bar is looking tired and in need of freshening up. 

 

We have accepted the challenge to bring the bar up to date and hopefully make it a destination venue for all fans pre (and hopefully in the future post) games. We have already stripped out the bar and started the prep work but to ensure we get the bar open in time for the Cove game we are seeking help from our members this Sunday to get some fresh paint on the walls. 

 

We have all the materials we just need hands to tackle the job and many hands make light work. If anyone is able to help then please be at the sports bar from 11am this Sunday. Can’t stress enough that we need plenty of painters please. 

 

We also need joiners who can spare a few hours, doesn’t need to be Sunday.  There are some jobs that won’t take long with the right level of expertise. Please contact us on [email protected] and we can sort out time that suits you look over what needs done.

First of all I would like to thank you for responding to our request for volunteers. Many of you have already been called upon and we are so very grateful. 

Bar 94 - We could not have got this open without many volunteers and this is still a work in progress. If you haven't managed to check it out yet then please pop in for a pre or post match pint.

To those of you who came along to help Dale (groundsman) before a recent game, he couldn't speak highly enough of you and was very appreciative of your time and effort. This is something likely to be repeated throughout the season.

Others I know are still working away behind the scenes helping in different ways.

Now more than ever before we need help in all areas and this may include matchdays. Whether it's helping in the bar, taking a turn in one of the Blue High Vis jackets assisting the support, working with Dale, picking up a paint brush or anything else that may come up.

We are hoping to run another 'permission to sell alcohol' course shortly so if you have any experience or just fancy learning a new skill then please let us know.

At the meeting last week we were asked to put a call out to anyone with security experience, especially if you happen to have an SIA badge. (If you don't know what this is then you won't have it lol).
