I suppose that when Butcher now does his stand up spot for the Champions league on STV that the caption will now read manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

It'll probably say "Former Scotland Assistant Manager" !

I think that's exactly what it will say.

realistically id want McLeish back but with carson yeungs take over he'd be out of contention.

Gordon strachan would be my 2nd choice but he has just taken over at boro.

3rd would be levein as he has a good record with hibs and dundee utd

Whoever the next manager is should do this for his 1st game. PLAY PLAYERS WHO WANT TO PLAY FOR THE JERSEY(NOT the island but the scotland jersey)! Dont play players who see it as an inconvenience as you will never get 100% out of them.

p.s why was David Marshall in goal for the Wales game and not Neil Alexander or Jamie Langfield??? Thats 14 goals in 4 games he has conceded!

Should please more people now.

Alternatively, it could read "Ex-captain of Engerland".

Who seriously, with any management talent, would want the job of managing a hasbeen national football team like Scotland. You would have to be desperate to the extreme. So the answer is obvious. We will end up with a hasbeen manager!

Spare a thought for Hegarty. Sacked by Livvy, rescued by Scotland and then dumped a few weeks later! Sacked by Aberdeen, sacked by Dundee United.

Could Hegarty be the new Alex Smith? Always sacked but the press love him.
