Is it just me or is anyone else concerned that Inverness and surrounding area seems to be turning into a litter bin with strewn litter eyesores all over town and approach roads? Have there been cut backs in this area?,is it a symptom of new policy's on waste disposal? or am i just turning into a grumpy old man? :frustrated01:

When is the last time you saw a street sweeper walking about with a barrow? its cutbacks, another thing that i find visually distasteful is chewing gum splattered over pavements.

I see street sweepers in the town almost every day .

Heilandee, I reckon your enhanced awareness of the rubbish is probably some kind of coping function that your psyche has employed to keep your mind off the football.

 You could be right D,something to do with having seen an affy lot of rubbish recently!,hopefully the clean sweep starts tonight

Seriously though, it's not the town center, but roadsides and bushes etc, ditches at the side of the A96 look terrible and create an affy poor firsty impression for visitors coming in from the airport

Looks like the rubbish issue just got a little worse!!!!

Seriously though, I think you are right, but it could be in part down to the long run of bad weather and not being able to get out and get it cleared.

I recall a SNP councillor in Aberdeen proposing a tax on chewing gum to fund cleaning it off the streets. Seemed like a good idea. Personally I can't stand the stuff and the streets round Inverness are pretty bad at times.

The thing that really annoys me is those who'll drive for miles to dump rubbish. Even driving past a civic amenities site in the process. Stop in any layby on the A9 and look over the banking and you'll find many a mattress or washing machine.

Chewing gum was being "steam cleaned" off Inverness city centre streets last Friday, drew many confused looks from passers by!
