Ok so I was wondering how our relegation season compared to others, here is a list of the bottom side since the introduction of 38 games.

2009 - Inverness 37 Pts

2017 - Inverness 34 Pts

2005 - Dundee - 33 Pts

2007 - Dunfermline - 32 Pts

2010 - Falkirk 31 Pts

2013 - Dundee 30 Pts

2015 - St Mirren - 30 Pts

2003 - Motherwell - 28 Pts

2016 Dundee Utd - 27 Pts

2011 Hamilton - 26 Pts

2004 - Partick - 26 Pts

2012 - Dunfermline - 25 Pts

2014 - Hearts - 23 Pts

 2002 - St Johnstone 21 Pts

2006 - Livingston 18 Pts

2008 - Gretna - 13 Pts

Looks like we were very unlucky again in terms of the amount of points gained.

Interesting stats, but a more pertinent figure is what was the tally of the second bottom team, as that would give a better guide as to how often we would have still finished bottom with 34 points.

Just done a quick look back - there is one missing. St Mirren finished bottom of a 12 team, 38 games league with 30 points in 2001.

Of the 17 seasons of the current format, 34 points would have been enough to avoid bottom place on 7 occasions. On one of those it would have been enough to finish above second bottom too. On three occasions, it would have tied second second bottom.

We got 28 points against the teams that were trying.

This is a fair point. Two of our wins from seven this season were against teams who were barely trying.
