Did they not do something similar the last time the two sides met, in Lithuania.

I seem to remember them equalizing through a cheatin' divin' penalty and holding on for a 1-1 draw in a game Scotland should have won.

Edit: It wasn't the last time they met (about this time last year) - it was a few years ago.

From UEFA.com:

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Lithuania midfielder Saulius Mikoliunas for deceiving the referee, following the incident which brought about a penalty for Lithuania in the UEFA EURO 2008? qualifying Group B match against Scotland in Glasgow on Saturday.

Penalty award

Mikoliunas fell in the penalty area in the 61st minute of the game, which Scotland won 3-1. Lithuania were awarded a spot-kick from which they scored. Having studied video evidence of the incident in question, the UEFA disciplinary inspector decided to charge the player concerned. The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will examine the case on 19 September.

Disciplinary regulations

The charge is based on Article 10, para. 1c of the UEFA disciplinary regulations (Misconduct of players): Players may be suspended for two competition matches, or for a specified period, for acting with the obvious intent to cause any match official to make an incorrect decision or supporting his error of judgement and thereby causing him to make an incorrect decision.

If anyone should be getting charged with screwing up it should be Stuart Dougal = watch the Turkey V Hungary highlights ..... stonewall penatly and red card for keeper, instead SD books the guy for diving and has to send him off as its his second yellow.

Easy to take action against him when it did'nt affect score, if the game had finished 1-1 do you think they would have charged him ? No way, and what would the result have been ? replay the game-dont think so. this is easy for them. But he is still a cheating barsteward and he,s getting it next week. :010: :33:
