Use of expletives

Can we cut back a bit with the expletives please. The word filter is not there to allow people to swear at will and have the system star it out to make it "all ok". It's there to pick up the odd word that someone might post without thinking.

Some of the recent posts look like a page for the "learn morse code" manual.

We appreciate that people are wound up and upset after yesterdays performance and result (we're in the same boat), but if you could just scale it back a bit then it would make for easier/better reading and your point actually might come across more clearly.

Please also don't be using full stops and spaces in the middle of expletives to bypass the filter either. It only creates additional work for the moderators who have to go behind you to tidy it up and that's not really acceptable....nor is it possible to keep up at the moment so people who persist with doing such things may find that the quick option of just deleting entire posts is used instead of editing.

Much appreciated.

You are a hypocrite, every reply where you mention County, you doctor the word so that it looks more like a particular swear word. Hypocritical ******

specky that is the rules of the forum Scotty, Caley D and the rest of the mods run the forum to their rules and as it's their forum thats ok. If you dont like the forum rules then you dont have to use it!

I think some of you are missing the point of his post.

He is quoting CaleyD's post on swearing and then having his own little dig at the bottom. He is not complaining about the rules merely noting that when we post about County, we tend to use expletives. Not that I can see anything wrong with that. :018:

Bottom line is that we dont mind the occasional swear word and the county one referred to is a well used and pretty much accepted one denoting our rivalry so I have no issue with that at all ... after all, we still havent found out who put the 'O' and the 'Y' in county :018:

Like anything else, its all about context ... the same 'C' word used elsewhere and not in context with county is not acceptable. Not hypocrisy, just the way it is !

With regards to swearing on the forums, we dont want to clamp down on every swear word or sanitise everything to the point where you cant use any expletives but we will deal with those users we feel are going over the top on a case by case basis. We prefer swears to be asterisked out either by way of the swear filter or by the user themself as we do cater to viewers of all ages but if one or two slip through the net we will simply edit posts if we feel the need.

However, as with anything else on this board, you give some people an inch and they take a mile. We have seen an increase in posts where people are using multiple swear words per post (asterisked or not), or where people try to circumvent the very basic swear filter by trying to be clever and spelling it differently or adding punctuation or bbcode to it. These users will find their warning levels increasing and their posts getting deleted because we are not going to waste our time editing their posts. Again, not hypocrisy, just dealing with those who feel the need to push the envelope at every opportunity.

CaleyD's message was quite polite, not aimed at anyone in particular and was quite simply a small "shot across the bows" of those who feel the need to fill up their posts with un-necessary swear words. If it is preferred we will refrain from posting such niceties and just go straight to adding warning points to the relevant users ...... you cant have it both ways.

Being a school teacher of good stock and living in Midlothian, I doubt Mr Mantis can be referred to as the above.

The only thing that makes sense is the first two words.
