Whats your fave games console from the consoles out just now and also what would you consider your fave console of all time?

Out now mines is the Xbox 360 and all time it would probably be the Super Nintendo.

Currently use Xbox 360. Best of all time? I'll go for PSOne. Original Tomb Raider, Jonah Lomu Rugby, Duke Nukem, Gran Turismo - just so many great games.

Am thinking of getting back into gaming after about a 5 year lapse. Am toying with getting an Xbox 360, simply because of price, and the fact that my oldest son has one, with about 30 games plus am getting my 9 yr old one for xmas. I only know 1 person with PS3 to mooch games off

But am fancying dusting off the PS2 and maybe revisiting resident evil 4 again.....and finnish/restart Splinter Cell 3.

Right then here goes, before Georgeios Jnr and Ms Georgeios came on the seen (When I had a couple of quid)

I managed to get...

XBOX360 (ist 2/3years old now) 20Gig

PS3 (40 Gig

PSP (Big Yin)

Wii

DS

From my gadgets my Xbox is the only one I game on now, I love the game play as a games console/Platform its not got wireless fitted so as a standalone wired bit of kit its awsome and has a bigger cames list IMO

the PS3 looks mint as a DVD player and thats about it, I dont like the contorl pad or game play on it, but feature wise as a media hub its awsome, streams BBC Iplayer and the likes to my TV from the PC

PSP its just a dust collector now, and worth next to nothing to trade in or sell so im keeping it for Georgeios JNR to play about with when hes a wee bit bigger

Wii is a great wee Family/Party bit of fun, but I dont like it and im banned from the Wii Fit as I can lose weight just thinking about it and seen as Ive a house full of ladys just now doing the whole losing weight thing Im not good for there confidence.

DS, Didnt really get in to it and traded it in to dust off my xbox and update my games collection as Id had a busy 18 mths and didnt even switch the 360 on.. so It became Fifa 09 and COD W@W thing that i dont like!!

All time one for me is the MegaDrive/Master system Sonic and then Micky mouse castle of Illusion (old but I remember it was the first game i compleated!!) lets not forget the Game Gear!!

Slightly off topic here...but, as i mentioned earlier, am planning getting my 9 yr old an xbox 360 arcade for xmas. Question is...is a hard drive really required? I cant see him wanting to download demos etc.......but just for playing a game here and there. he isnt the kind of boy to play a pile of different games at one time, hes more likely to play one game and try to finnish it. So.....would i be fine with the arcade version?

I dont know to be honest, I think the arcade is like the PS2 for saving games, you'll need to get him a memory card, XBox do them and who knows you might be able to get one as a package.

I think you get a 256MB save feature (not sure in what form it takes) on the arcade version. basically, I dont think i can afford a hard drive version for him, as he also wants a certain game (?30-?40) and, I am going to have to purchase the 3 yr insurance cover (?30) for my own peice of mind. Its all more than i can afford really, coz that little lot is gonna cost me about ?220 as it is. Think a 60Gb hard drive version is about another ?30.

PS3 end off.

But the true classic is Nintendo 64, GoldenEye was the best.

I would advise the one with the hard drive. It is worth it. You can get an Xbox 360 with a hard drive out of gamestation for 130 quid when the arcade costs about 110 quid. It really is worth it as it would cost 40 quid to buy a HDD on its own.

I know you said your lad wouldnt be downloading n that, but with the HDD you can save a small fortune as the download demos are free and you can see if he'd like it before you buy, and you will get up to day info on whats new on xbl its free with a silver membership... standard HDD setting..

3D graphics all the way baby...

Oh hang on, this pics about at 3D as it got!! and you could get games for it, mind joysticks, now adays thats rude!

It had a wee casette that played games from tapes, does that count.

Adventureland..............ooerr, I've got the rickets, but when you take the magic/medical potion.........boy, that really hit the spot.

Graphics on these older systems might not have been anything to shout about, but you spent far longer playing the games then you do with modern ones. You don't get blisters playing a PS or XBox game like you used to get with Track & Field on the Atari.

If you want a real gaming experience then you should invest in one of these.....

Best thing I ever bought and you can get converters to use it on any console or the PC.

I've suddenly got the urge to dig out my copy of Mame for some classic arcade action!!!

Currently have a PS3, 80 gig. I prefer it to the 360 anyday, for example, blu-ray dvds, free online mode, better in HD ect.

favourite console of all time has to be the sega mega drive.

Yeh i feel exactly the same. Why pay for an Xbox then Live for it then a Bluray DVD player, External Harddrive (if arcade version) etc when you can buy a PS3 and get it rolled into one.

The only problem i have is that Halo games arent made for the Playstation but apart from that, MUCH better than the 360.

Play Station 1,2 & 3 - for one reason only LMA. One of the best manager games you could get but for some reason they dont make them now. Anyone know why?
