Our best penalty taker since Paul Sheerin.

More recently, Adam Rooney was very reliable.

Sneckboy we need some stats here!

Steady on...that will take him a good ten minutes

Took a bit longer than 10 mins - there's no reliable source (that I can find)!

But, he does have a terrific record for ICT from the spot. 16 from 19 !!!

Rooney was phenomenal. Every penalty i think i ever saw him take was right in the corner shaving the post

Except the one in Dingwall but he did net the rebound

Tansey as the main taker, Vincent if he isn't playing.  I remember how coolly he slotted home that one against St Mirren.  Would feel pretty confident if he stepped up again.

I know it's not all about how hard you can hit it, but Jordan Roberts (small k) looks like he can fairly ping a ball after his goal v Clach.  May rival Tansey in that department.

Has Roberts signed then?

No, but I'm hoping he does.

Its not just about being able to hit a penalty its about dealing with the pressure at the crucial stage of a game. Tansey proved this, the gamesmanship from Celtic taking as long as possible to change keepers in the semi, packed Hampden with Celtic fans - yet he was totally unfazed and never looked like bottling it, other than Draper or Foran I'm not sure who else in our squad mentally could have done that.

Where Tansey has not been so great last season is free kicks.  I agree with the point about Tansey coping well with the pressure of a penalty but Roberts looks as though he could be an option for free kicks.

Foran deal with the pressure of that?
Looking at those stats, Richie is not so good from the spot under pressure, particularly shoot outs.

Let's leave the penalties to Mr. T then.

I'd leave it to Tansey. He likes the responsibility of dead balls so obviously has the confidence in his own ability required

I'd make young Ryan understudy. The added responsibility would be great for his development and I think the added goals would increase his self confidence further.

...I think we should concentrate on actually getting into the penalty area to start winning penalty kicks than worrying about who's going to take them!

If Vigurs does the business then his past escapades, etc.,  will soon be forgotten.  Needs must when the Devil drives.

Or........ self-interest is a great driver of the chariot. ...Marcus Testiculous A.D. 156.

Incidentally a great believer in live balls , not dead ones.

Yesterday was our first penalty since the Scottish Cup semi against Celtic!
Probably wasn't a pen, but we've had stronger claims turned-down in the interim, so no complaints from me.
Impressive 'match' penalty stats we've got. (i.e. during a regular 90 mins)
We've only got one single miss throughout all the current players in our squad.
...and I keep repeating this every time I update this, but it becomes a stronger claim each time - it's fantastic to have such a reliable taker as Tansey!
