Gordon Strachan has banned players from drinking during the week and from socialising in the city centre at weekends. I think they are taking liberties there. What right does an employer have to dictate your social life? Was only two weeks ago that Strachan was defending Boruc regarding the smoking and drinking episode, stating he saw no problem, as the players were only human!

Is this not to protect the players as there have been numerous occurences of them being abused both physically and verbally, and there are a lot more that happens that don?t get reported in the paper.

Plus, as has been discussed and mentioned many times over the year, football is a completly different type of employment then you and I

Most clubs have a ban on drinking unless the following day is a day off. Simply because training after a night on the bevy can result in injury. Body still being dehydrated and all that.

Strachan has banned his players from socializing in Glasgow. Not anywhere else. As is said this is for personal protection. There have been far too many incidents in recent times between players and Joe public. I have heard rangers may go the same route.
