BUTCHER PLOTTING AN IMMEDIATE RETURN

Terry Butcher has emerged from one of the worst weeks of his football career to issue a Braveheart-type battle cry on behalf of Inverness Caley Thistle.

The Highlanders lost out on the last day of the SPL season when they were beaten by Falkirk, going down on the same points as St Mirren, who were just two goals better off. But Butcher said: ?It?s time to move on and when the summer?s over, we?re going to get going again and have a right good go at returning to the SPL at the first time of asking.

?We?re going for glory.?

However, Butcher, conceded it?s still early days as he and the city recover from relegation to the First Division. He admitted: ?It?s still very raw.

?It?s been a very difficult week since last Saturday and everyone here has been hurting because we went down and in the way we were relegated. It was sore. It still is. It was a massive blow for everyone here.?

But, rather than dwell on the past, the Caley Thistle boss has spent the week planning for the future.

The 50-year-old Englishman has been locked in meetings with the club hierarchy as they put in place a plan to take them straight back up.

Butcher said: ?We?ve had lots of talks this week about budgets, who might be going and who might be coming in. It?s clearly more difficult to attract players now we?re no longer in the SPL.

?But hopefully we?ll get a few in and manage to retain the players we want who are here.

?There will have to be some streamlining, but overall the mood has been positive.

?The lads will have a few weeks? break and we?ll come back on June 29 for pre-season when, hopefully, things will be in place for the new season.

?And at that point it will be all go.

?We want to hit the ground running when the time comes because clearly a good start is always important.

?But, whatever happens, the only target is promotion. Everything we do during the summer, and when the time comes again, will be geared towards that aim.

?The First Division is going to be a fierce league because there are going to be a lot of good teams.

?But we?ll be ready to give it our best shot.

?And hopefully this time next year that will have been good enough.?

I'd say job done, well done Terry.
