On the other cars a new Vauxhall Viva Mk2 an old Ford Popular and I think the black one behind is a Vauxhall Cresta.

Your knowledge of cars is incredible!

He never had it for long as it was heavy on fuel, 1500cc I think, and it was his car for getting to work as well. There was a local guy who had a huge yard full of old cars and my dad occasionally did jobs for him. He was said to be a millionaire and he wasn’t really bothered about making a living. If you wanted to try a car you had to get loads of other ones moved first. He was a bit of a legendary figure in Midlothian called Sonny Swinton.
Actually now I remember, the driver’s door got damaged in Academy Street, Inverness. He left us kids in the back of the van for a few minutes but never shut the door properly. Each time a car went past the door swung open and closed. Then a lorry went past and it got damaged.

Lucky none of the kids fell out, no seatbelts back then

Here is one from my old family photos, my father with the Albion Reiver that he drove in the early 60's transporting timber from Glenmoriston with Ardachy Lodge, Fort Augustus in the background which was a haunted ruin.

It was used for family transport on occasions during the holidays when we would spend a week or two at my grandparents in Dalwhinnie and after being down south all week my Dad would collect the family on the way home.  My mother in the passenger seat with my baby brother on her knee, my younger sister standing or sitting on the floor in front of her, my two older sisters and myself sitting on the engine cover with me at the back helping to change gear   Our luggage was tied on the platform with rope, what an adventure    And here is the interior of an Albion Reiver.

I wonder what that cost in 1972. Had a quick search but no luck

I would estimate about 2-3k.  I bought a 1973 Ford Capri in 1976 for £1100 which I think was just over 2k new.

Was at an Air Show yesterday, at one of my favourite places on this planet -  https://www.shuttleworth.org/ .  As well as the planes, they always have interesting vehicles, either from their collection, or visiting. Here's a marque that I think I've only ever seen in my old I-Spy books...

And here's what he was looking at.  I'm sure there's an espresso machine in there somewhere...

Great Photos  like you I have never seen one of them in my life never mind four the one with the indicator in the top of the rear wing the fourth!  Beautiful looking cars with great style that we will not see much of again.  They look similar to the UK Bristols.  Simple switches and levers to operate not like all the high tech you have now

Great style in the 405 and the numberplate is 405 as well one thing I liked about them was the spare wheel compartment in the front wing.

Must have been a good day out.

A few more at random.

We were particularly impressed by the matching dress worn by the Elan owner's wife.

I like the matching dress 🤣

Never seen a Ford that colour before

A retired BT guy near me has a Bond Bug the only one in Inverness I think he also has a Riley Elf.

Don’t think I’ve posted this before… my sons car, a 1988 BMW535

Also he went away to Hull a couple of weeks ago to meet up with some online friends and they hired a racetrack for the day. Here are two of the other cars that went…

I like the Jag!

My former next-door neighbour used to have an Interceptor rusting away in his garage.  When he started it up, it sounded like an explosion in a ball-bearing factory.  Don't know what happened to it but he wouldn't have got much if he sold it.

I think you did post the BMW before but good to see it again and another two cracking classics.

Last week saw the annual Classics on the Common event in Harpenden, just up the road from me.

https://www.classicsonthecommon.com/ - have a look at their gallery of pictures from last year - they are great!

The usual mixture this year - everything from old Bentleys to Fiat 500s to modern day McLarens.  This year there seemed to be more cars and more attendees than usual, which can only be a good thing.

We'll start off with the familar - a Cortina which must be owned by a Jags supporter, and a beautifully-presented Anglia.

Good photos I don't remember seeing a Cortina with a stripe apart from the the Lotus white with the green stripe so it might be a Jaggie

The only car show I have managed this year was the Inverness one so must look out some photos.

Just by coincidence I was chauffeuring grandkids around this morning and I saw this Rover 3.5 V8 so I obviously thought of IBM (well actually I thought of my laddie first and my old man who had a Rover 2000). I stopped for a look but it looked more of a heap close up. It would need the doors replaced and a respray and it’s being offered at £2895.

Another classic Ford - a Consul Capri from the early 60s.

And then an old Vauxhall Velox from the late 40s or early 50s.   We used to have a 1953 one in black, and I'm guessing that the one below isn't in its original colour.
