Born on this day fifty years ago with a face only a mother could love.

Brought up in Muirhouses Edinburgh

Played for one or two Edinburgh schools before signing for Dundee

Left Dundee for Aberdeen where he won european honours.

Signed a pre-contract with Cologne but then chose to join Man U

Left Man U for Leeds and then ended his playing days with Coventry at the age of forty.

Today he will enjoy his fiftieth birthday celebrations but will come to a rude awakening

on 25th when his team are destroyed by the mighty ICT
