Wick's journey is surely a record for the Scottish Cup.

724 miles round trip, on aa autoroute. they will need a crowd of 10000 to get enough of a share to pay the fuel never mind anything else.

I don't suppose a team would be allowed to just forfeit a tie if they couldn't be bothered with the travel and cost involved?

Wick estimate that this trip could cost them up to ?4000. However they do have the appearance money, an SFA travel grant and their share of the gate money to offset it. I would imagine it's not physically possible to travel much further on mainland Scotland. In general the north teams do have a huge amount of travelling (Golspie are lucky their draw is at home!)

However the most colurful sounding tie has to be "Clachnacuddin versus Burntisland Shipyard Amateur."!

I once dreamt (or wot It a nightmare) Caley lost to Stirling albion just before we played them in the Scottish cup 2 season back!

Dont think Fort William will see the second round.

Seem to recall an Orkney or Shetland team once having to travel somewhere. Could be dreaming though.

That would more likely be the Highland Amateur Cup no?

A Shetland Select entered the North of Scotland Cup this season on the premis that they would agree to travel for all ties whether they were drawn away or not. Perhaps unsurprisingly, they beat Fort William in the first round before being beaten by Cove Rangers in Aberdeen.
