A few years younger than my late father, but definitely one of the same generation.Β  They all seemed to know everyone in town!

Is that Colin Baillie on the left?

Yes

As well as the football, I'm sure that I remember Jackie as an officer in one of the BB companies, around 1970.

And my mind may be playing tricks on me, but wasn't he also involved in coaching at the Harriers as well?Β  CB would know...

I had a funny experience with Jackie about 11 or 12 years back when ymipjr was mascot in a game against the currant buns. I was standing in the tunnel with ymipjr and mrsymip when Jackie appeared and we exchanged pleasantries. He came out with the immortal "you were a bit of a player yourself". You could almost see ymipjr and mrsymip's jaws hit the floor at this statement. I was tempted to bask in the glory of this accolade but had to fess up that he was perhaps mistaking me for one of my three cousins who had all played for him over the years. A gentleman and a legend of Invernessian youth football who richly deserves this long overdue accolade.

Jackie Sutherland.jpegJackie Sutherland (90) became just the fourth person to be awarded a City of Inverness Medal from Provost Glynis Campbell-Sinclair before taking a half-time bow to warm applause from fans at the Caley Thistle v Queen’s Park match.Β
