Here's tae us; wha's like us?

Gey few, and they're a' deid.

Scottish Toast, probably of 19th-century origin. The first line appears in T. W. H. Crosland The Unspeakable Scot

Tomorrow night and next month TRUE Scots around the globe will be as one - pessimistic pieces of anxiety - but hopefully as Alex Ferguson has prophecied - "The master race is back"

And if ya would care to join me in ma fave Tartan Army ditty - sing as we go to Georgia and ma spirits will invoke reality.  :crazy07:

It's over the mountain and over the main

Through Gibraltar, tae France and tae Spain

Get a feather tae your bonnet, a kilt abin your knee

Enlist, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

Twa recruitin' sergeants come fae the Black Watch

To merkits and fairs, some recruits for tae catch

But a' they've enlisted is forty and twa

So 'list, bonnie laddie, and come, come awa

It's over the mountain and over the main

Through Gibraltar, tae France and tae Spain

Get a feather tae your bonnet, a kilt abin your knee

Enlist, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

O laddie dae ye ken o' the danger your in

If your horses was tae flegg and your owsen tae rin

This greedy auld farmer widna pay your fee

So 'list, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

It's over the mountain and over the main

Through Gibraltar, tae France and tae Spain

Get a feather tae your bonnet, a kilt abin your knee

Enlist, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

It's intae the barn and oot o' the byre

This auld fairmer thinks you'll never tire

It's a slav'ry job of lowly degree

So 'list, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

It's over the mountain and over the main

Through Gibraltar, tae France and tae Spain

Get a feather tae your bonnet, a kilt abin your knee

Enlist, bonnie laddie, and come awa' wi' me

O laddie dae ye hae a sweetheart an' bairn?

Ye'll easy get rid o' that weel spun yarn

Twa rattles o' the drum an' that will pay it a'

So 'list, bonnie laddie, and come, come awa'

It's over the mountain and over the main

Through Gibraltar, tae France and tae Spain

Get a feather tae your bonnet, a kilt abin your knee

Mind you - my fave quote is:

Join a Highland regiment, me boy. The kilt is an unrivalled garment for fornication and diarrhoea.

John Masters, (1914 - 1983)

Scotland have been utter utter utter tripe so far and have not troubled their young keeper yet. I remember now why they do my head in watching them, what a waste of time.  We can only get better against a team that have so far only managed to beat the Faroes in this competition.

Looks like the end of the dream :009:

not so. We are still top, even if France may occupy that spot later today. The math is simple ..... We need to beat Italy at Hampden in our final game and we will qualify. No-one thought we could beat France once let alone twice so its not impossible and the dream is not over.

we sounded utter poo tonight.

faddy was trying bt couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a banjo

fletcher should have been hooked, sounded like he was having a mare

defence sounded shoddy,

didnt help that the ref sounded like he was more than a little biased

appreciate that i have only got the commentators opinins to go on but we did not sound good at all :020:

Key turning point was that penalty claim when McFadden was clearly fouled.

Had we got the spot kick and scored I think we would have won.

Easy to say with hindsight but I don't think one up front was the way to go. I do think we can beat Italy but lets be honest - who thought we would even have a chance of qualifying from this group?

that was back to the bad old days

Fletcher should have been dragged off, Miller had upped his tally of touches to control the ball into double figures, Weir shows his age at times............trouble was the subs were no better

Has Boyd ever run more than 5 yards for the ball? Beattie about a stone overweight...

Scotland play better when they play at pace, we aren't a team who can sit back and knock it around

Not McCleish's fault imo....absences showed the lack of depth in the squad

....back to the league... :009:

Disappointingly garbage performance, nothing went right, everybody miscontrolled the ball we could have played for two days and not scored.  Hugely frustrating after the recent performances.  I also agree that one up front should not have been deployed, we are better having a go.  Ferguson was poor after recent good displays and Faddy tried to do it all on his own. Maloney started poor but came more into it and Fletcher just got in the road of everybody, he has no pace, dump him.

I'm off to jump off the Kessock bridge.

It was truly awful.  That trashy performance was nearly as bad as that terrible brown shirt with Back-Pass Ferguson in the middle of that catastrophe.  By that display the East Fife Reserves could have put more pressure on the Georgia goal than that joke of a team.

Why do you hate ferguson so much he is by far our best midfielder

I would say Brown is better, I would certainly prefer him to be playing instead of Ferguson.

One thing was clear though that without Hutton and Naysmith we didn't have the full backs to replace them. Murty and Alexander weren't good enough tonight and I don't think they are full stop. Pearson had a cracker in France but I'm not so sure he is a good replacement for McCulloch. I wouldn't have minded seeing a 2nd striker in there and drop McFadden to the left side.
