Barry's testimonial Dinner is booked for Saturday 29th March following our home game v Aberdeen.  This will take the form of a Dinner Dance and casino night with guest speakers in the Drumossie Hotel.

Exact details and information regarding tickets etc will be finalised later this week.  This will definitely be a sell out event and while we would expect a large corporate interest, Barry has requested that there are some tables reserved for fans.

The testimonial comittee will be in a position to release final information within the next few days, but I just thought I would give you a little advanced warning as this is one event where we will not be able to sit back and decide nearer the time. So check your diaries now, so that you can get your bookings in sooner rather than later.

Feck Setanta  :023: :001:

I (We) would certainly be interested in this event.

(It's also Rangers v Celtic on the 29th so I'd be surprised if the Dons game will be moved - unless they choose a Monday night like they've done before.... :008: :008: :008:)

If anything i think the Old Firm game will be on at 12.30 on the Saturday... leaving a good chance that the game v dons is on Sunday... im thinking about the players, not me personally... i couldnt imagint them having such a good night if they are playing the next day... could the club decline the move of the game on the grounds of a testimonial dinner??

As i said, it doesnt affect me, but i would have thought this would have been determined before the booking of such an event and therefore maybe there is no danger of the dons game being moved!!  :sillywave:

I just about choked on my coffee there.

Setanta (and SPL come to that) wouldn't give a stuff about other events affecting fixture dates.

Going off topic here....so back to the thread eh!

Could be a fantastic night....

Especially if we record our first ever win over the Dons earlier in the day.... :022:

The Setanta issue is certainly a consideration and would certainly impact on the event if the game is changed.  I'm not sure the club can refuse to have the game re-scheduled, so fingers crossed that it isn't an issue.  At the back of my mind I think that this 'can't beat Aberdeen' thing just might make the fixture more appealing to the television.

Gringo - we'll keep you in mind, PB's and myself will have a table and I'm sure we can squeeze you in.  :004:  But if you're coming up, please don't tell Setanta, as they seem to know when you have booked your travel.  :010:

I'm with Johnboy on this one, our first win over the Dandy Dons would set the night up perfectly.  I'm sure it will be a fantastic night, with some great guests.

:015: :015:  The power of moderation has gone to your head Alex.  :rotflmao:  But you are absolutely right, it'll all make more sense once the official announcement is made.

I'm sure it'll be a night that will be well supported.  :021:

Barry Wilson has been a good player for ict,but why should he get a testimonial when he broke service testimonials are a farce how many people posting on this site have been with there employers for more than 10 years without any broken service have had thousands of pounds given to them tax free probably not one

Andyo,  Your post made me a little angry and my first thought was to delete it, but you are entitled to your opinion.  Testimonial years are not given lightly and have to be approved by the SFA.  In my opinion (and I'm sure many others) Barry is very deserving of his testimonial year.  I was with my previous employer for 17 years and you are right they didn't chose to give me a testimonial, but that's not the done thing.

A footballers career is a short one and testimonials reflect that.  I take it you won't be looking for a seat at the dinner or what about the potential 'big' testimonial match?

So far I have not spoken to anyone who shares your opinion, so can we keep this thread on topic please and in relation to the forthcoming testimonial dinner.

You showed some restraint there, Laura.... He's only made two posts on this site - and the other one wasn't much better...

I can't think of any other member of our current squad more worthy of a testimonial than Bazza.... :022:

Does anyone "in the know" have any inklings to how much this dinner will be priced at?  I am quite interested in attending.

I think that this is still to be confirmed, but it won't be too ridiculous as Barry wants it to be accessible for fans.  I THINK it will be  around the ?55 mark, but awaiting confirmation.  You'll be the first to know.  :003:

Assuming it's a Black Tie affair?

Not this time.  Dress code will be collar and tie for the men (hopefully trousers and a shirt too  :015: )

I might have to miss this one out as I am off to Jamaica a couple of days later. :029:

Thank you everyone.  That's quite a few tables pre booked and still a few to confirm.  Don't leave it too long though.
