There was some sort of Representative game against Iceland around that time. I can't recall if it was a B international or under 21.

I seem to recall that Scotland won but I can't remember the score or scorers.

Im just curious if any of those players made it to full times status and possible stardom, lol

There was a game at Kingsmills in the spring of 1978 when a Highland League select played a Scotland XI made up of players on the fringes of the Scotland squad due to go to Argentina.  Think I still have the programme somewhere.

I remember that one as well. I can't remember the score but seem to recall that the Highland League select gave the Scotland XI a ggod run for their money.

Was it 2-2, possibly after going 2-0 down. I was there, but it was a while ago.

It does but humping Buckie 5-0 in the Qualifying Cup Final still seems like yesterday....

The club reached the Qualifying Cup final at Boroughbriggs in 1980 but, amid unfortunate crowd scenes, which occurred as a result of ineffective stewarding, the side was soundly drubbed 5-0 by Inverness Thistle. (source: Buckie Thistle Club History) :rotflmao:

I remember that match as well, it was billed as something of a warm up for the home based Scotland players prior to the Argentina World Cup.

However, there was also a represtative match; either at B level oe under 21/23 level against Scandanavian opposition a couple of seasons later.

Scotland under 16/17 played quite a few times at jags park if my memory serves me right.

I have one of the programmes somewhere.

Did we not play one of the home nations their, in an under 16's game, early 80's?
