Club/fan relations

The open day, boardroom banter, volunteer programme, and club/CTO communication has all helped to make the board and fans move closer.

This quote was taken from IHE's pros and cons threads (the pros) and I think it has to be one of the most significant step forwards and worthy of further discussion. Due to the nature of thee thread it was originally posted in I am starting a new one.

The club, following Brewster's departure, have tried to improve relations and heal rifts. I believe that it is highly possible that, at least some of, these efforts may well have been instigated or encouraged by Butcher. We were getting to the stage where we as fans and the club were pushing against each other and trying to out do each other on the "who is most important scale"

I read a post on P&B (I think it was P&B but could easily have been here) which declared that if the trust had not intervened with their statement declaring disapproval at Brewster's continued employment then Brewster may well have been ousted earlier but the club's management decided to show the trust who was boss. This may or may not be true but the current climate is turning back towards the situation we had with the Brewster out campaign.

I don't know if the trust are making any moves to approach the club to discuss this and address the current rise in fan displeasure but I believe it might be a good idea to privately (between the trust and club) talk about what is going on, our fan base is made up of people with very differing ideas and if we let everyone on this forum run amok then we are going to end up with an extremely unsavoury situation again. I would particularly like to avoid the situation where the club's spin doctors ended up enraging the fans even more than they were with incidents like the "20 fans" comment.

Whatever your beliefs or thoughts on our form and management let's not go backwards when such big steps forwards have been taken.

Birdog, first off, if my memory serves right the 'trust' did not intervene with any statement regarding Brewster. The chairman of the 'trust'. as an individual made the statement in the newspaper he wrote for. Other people turned that around to look like the 'Trust' supported it.

Are you a member of the Supporters Trust? If so, then may I suggest you put your idea's directly through the board of the 'Trust' and not through this website.

I am a member and there is one person on the trust board who I have no intentions of having further communication with and while he is a member of the trust board I shall be putting no ideas directly to that organisation.

However, the whole board of the Supporters' Trust regrettably feels that the time has come for a change in team management. We are worried by what they have seen on the pitch, the club's proximity to the bottom of the table, apparent low morale, and no sign of a turn around in fortunes. Last Saturday's defeat to Aberdeen further strengthened these concerns.

Apart from the above my main concern is the current climate is heading the same way as this time last year and it is not good.

I would like to put on record that I am not having a dig at the ICTST for their actions last year as I was 100% behind them, I am stating that there was a great rift between the club and ICST/ICT supporters and I would hate to see a repeat of the situation destroying all the good work which has been put in place to heal the rift.
