<p><strong>PLAYER SPONSORSHIP: 2011-12 Season</strong></p>

<p><strong>Player we are sponsoring</strong> - Looks like it will be <strong>SHANE SUTHERLAND</strong> (based on Poll results so far). Other sponsorships will depend on the level of "membership" the "Player Sponsor" group reaches. </p>

<p>The cost to sponsor a player is as follows: </p>

<ul>

<li>Home Shirt = £350 +vat (£420 total)</li>

<li>Away Shirt = £250 +vat (£300 total)</li>

<li>Training Kit= £100 +vat (£120 total)</li>

<li>Boots = £100 +vat (£120 total)</li>

</ul>

<p>To take part in this sponsorship you will need to upgrade your site membership to the "Player Sponsor" group. We in turn will use all money collected from memberships of this group to purchase player sponsorships from the club. The cost to join this group is £10.00 (+75p fee if subscribing online) but as many users have expressed a wish to contribute more than the minimum requirement for sponsorship you may also opt to purchase double (£20 +fee) or triple (£30 +fee) membership too ..... (if you want more than triple membership, please send me a PM).</p>

(Those who have already paid will be added to the Sponsor group manually). </p>

<p>All our site membership upgrades are handled securely via Paypal which will accept direct payment from the majority of credit/debit cards so it should be easy enough to upgrade your membership whether you live in Sneck or somewhere thousands of miles from there. </p>

<p>Should you prefer to join the group manually, you have a couple of different options. We have made arrangements with Senior Moderator TM4TJ (themann4thejob) and with Site Member Caley100 (Richard) to accept payments in person at the Innes Bar during pre-match / pre-season gatherings, alternatively you may also pay L_G (Laura) at the Club Shop at the stadium. If you join the group using this method, we will add you to the sponsor group manually - just make sure you tell one of them your site username if they dont already know it ! </p>

<p>Once we know how many members have joined the group, we will make a decision on what gets sponsored. The first item will be the selected player's Home Kit ... but the more members who upgrade to "Player Sponsor" membership, the more we can sponsor. At the end of the season, members of our sponsor group will be selected at random to receive any gifts we may receive from the club ...... </p>

Agree with Morrison and Sutherland but the old guard, Rossco, could be recognised by this site too.

It would be a nice touch if the winners of the previous season's sponsorship items could have their names used as sponsors then everyone gets a chance to have their names in the program for next year.

I will buy a share when i get a paypal acc sorted out.

just a note for clarification for anyone thinking of paying via PayPal ...

you do NOT need a paypal account to pay the sponsorship. Payment can be made via valid credit/debit cards directly to the paypal account.

According to the Paypal FAQ .... PayPal accepts the following cards:

* Visa / Delta / Electron

* MasterCard / Eurocard

* PayPal Top Up Card

* Maestro

* American Express

Debit cards (also known as bank cards) are accepted if they have a Visa or MasterCard logo.

If we vote in the poll are we able to alter them at a later date? If not then perhaps it is too early to be voting, there is an option for "incoming players" but we have no idea who might be coming in. One prime example being Adam Rooney, since he is a free agent atm I doubt the club would have offered out his sponsorship options so it is possible that if he signs then the website could miss out on the opportunity of showing our appreciation to him because some folks have already used their vote on someone else thinking that Rooney's sponsorship was not available.

yes, votes can be retracted and changed. There is an option to 'delete my vote' after voting and I can edit the poll to add names as they become available.

Bear in mind however that the likes of Adam Rooney were fully sponsored last season so those sponsors get first choice. Even though Duff has not yet signed a deal, his sponsorship options were listed so I assume from that that Adam's sponsors have said "yes" to continuing if he signs.

Incidentally, just to be on the safe side, I have spoken to the club and "reserved" the current poll leaders in each question as our items for sponsorship. Obviously, if the leaders in any of those questions change, we will amend that, but for now its probably a good move !

Item 1 - Home Top (Shane) = £350 +vat = £420 (42 sponsors)

Item 2 - Training Top (Gavin) = £100 +vat = £120 (12 sponsors)

Item 3 - Boots (Rossco) = £100 +vat = £120 (12 sponsors)

so we need to reach a magic number of 66 based on the current leaders of the poll.

[Overall (inc vat) a home top = 42 sponsors, away top = 30 sponsors, training kit and boots are 12 sponsors each]

I see, looking at the sponsorship winners thread, that Johnny Hayes' away shirt was one of the prizes this year. How come the site never had a "first dibs" on continuing that sponsorship?

cool, it would have been a good choice to have one of our higher rated players sponsored, I think it's a good thing to support the local youngsters so maybe it's serendipitous that the deadline was missed.

Due to a complaint submitted to Paypal by a former site member that our player sponsor initiative was equivalent to running a "lottery" we have had to change the payment model from donation to subscription and remove the direct payment option and graphics from this thread to stay within the acceptable use policy of Paypal.

You now need to join our "Player Sponsor" group (as noted in the amended opening post) and in doing so will receive benefits from that membership. It doesnt change the price or how we run things, just how it gets paid. However, as we have based the "Player Sponsor" group on the same benefits as our existing "site Sponsor" group, you will get a few perks ... a bigger PM mailbox, the option to change usernames more often, a little +sign next to your username indicating you are a sponsor, and other little bits and pieces! However, unlike site sponsors, you will still see site ads (you need to subscribe to site sponsor to remove those !!!)

As noted in the first post, we will manually add those who have already paid into this group.

EDIT : users added - you should now see a +player sponsor next to your username when posting.

What seems to have escaped this so called "Fan" is that what we do is for the benefit of the club and in trying to achieve whatever it is they think they are doing, it's not the site (or those who run it) who will suffer. I wouldn't expect this kind of petty minded silliness from any fan of the game, far less someone who claims to be "one of our own".

It's unfortunate that PayPal took the stance they did, despite us having had the "rules" of the player sponsorship checked out by lawyers (yup, that's the extreme some people force us to have go to) when we were threatened on this before, but they (PayPal) were ultimately quite helpful when it came to the proposed solution...and as Scotty points out, probably did us a favour in the long run by pushing us along a more suitable way of doing things.
