Statement from Caley Jags Together on "Offensive Singing"

http://ictsupporterstrust.co.uk/news/19-press-releases/259-offensive-singing-statement

Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC issued a statement to fans via their website on 28th December 2012 regarding “Offensive Singing” at the Highland Derby.  This statement contained advice from the Police and Procurator Fiscals Office warning that “singing or chants which could be deemed offensive to groups or communities such as travellers are deemed an offence under the law in Scotland and therefore anyone caught singing them is liable to criminal prosecution”

In response to a request from fans, as well as our own concerns about the way legislation is being attached to this matter, the Caley Jags Together board have decided to seek legal advice which will be followed by a request for an urgent meeting with Northern Constabulary and the club to establish what is acceptable to sing or chant at football matches between Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and Ross County FC, and to make the fan’s views about this known.

Caley Jags Together will update all fans as soon as possible on this subject, hopefully before the next meeting between the two sides.

Good to know we'll get some official guidance.

I'd hate to think that any song that I'm singing would upset groups or individuals who express their cultural heritage by dwelling in slums, raking in a bucket for something to eat or celebrating their something-rotten and dead-rat-based cuisine.

I should think we'd be in the clear with "The County End (Is Always Full)", however: With its joyous celebration of Victoria Park's smashing attendance record coupled with its proud history of tolerance towards football fans of all sexual orientations (including enthusiastic self-pleasurists) it seems absolutely in-keeping with the politically correct spirit of the age.

Scottish Travellers, or the people termed loosely Gypsies and Tinkers in Scotland, consist of a number of diverse, unrelated communities, with groups speaking a variety of different languages and holding to distinct customs, histories, and traditions. There are three distinct communities that identify themselves as Gypsies or Travellers in Scotland: Indigenous Highland Travellers

Have Northern Constabulary or the Procurator Fiscal's office actually thought this through? I'd like to see them have it stand up in court, under what law would they be charging you under? The sectarian bill or what?

The above is a true definition of the word, referring to fellow highlanders roots can't see what the problem is there, all of the above refers to Dingwall.

In the meantime there is real crime happening on the streets, good old Northern Plod

Why did the numb-sculls in the singing section sing?

"If you HATE F--king Fraser clap your hands"

Is this not a "Hate" crime?

Should some of these children not be taken in hand by their parents?

It is disgraceful that these children, of whom most seem to be under 16, and some as young as 5 or 6 are allowed to represent our club in this way!

If it wasn't for the schoolboy choir there would be no noise from our support , leave the kids in peace at least they try and make a noise .
