Look beyond the big name, 14 jobs and 14 sackings

in the interests of accuracy - 14 jobs a maximum of 11 sackings as he resigned or walked out three times ......

And even he couldn't save him from getting booted out of there!

Excuse Me?

Ossie's Record at Swindon - Played 106, Won 40, Lost 33, Drew 33, For 163, Against 140...

Not to bad...

I beleive dhearer was the top scorer every season he was at swindon and also made it into the PFA team of the season and i would love to see him come back.

Also Brian Irvine is another name to be thrown into the mix

I'll be seeing both Brian and Duncan socially tomorrow night....

I'll make enquiries for you David....

I'll admit the passing years have dimmed my memory as to why he was sacked at Swindon....

Was it something to do with accepting "bungs" with regards signing players?

He wasnt sacked at Swindon - he left to join Newcastle. He did well to begin with at Swindon, reaching the playoffs and ultimately gaining promotion. The promotion was voided however due to irregular payments to players and the following season was a lot different as they were staring relegation in the face. The Newcastle offer came along and off he went.

Fairy enuff...

I can remember they were relegated over something to do with illegal payments...

Must go and look it up on Wikki...

Why wouldent you want him as manager?

Think about it...

how many clubs in the world can say they are being managed by a world cup winner?

and since he is a world cup winner how many more people will come to games?

my guess alot... therefore... Boosting Finances...

He's been manager of 14 teams and sacked 14 times, despite larger attendances (undoubtebly less than a few hundred more on average) but the boost of finances ccould be irrelevant if he's the cause of us playing SFL football next season.

Also an excellent player does not make an excellent manager.

As someone else said he was not sacked 14 times plus why not give him a try he will give us more flair and it will be far more interesting to watch

Fair Enough...

But..

If You were a player who would you rather see walk into the changing room...

John Robertson...

Or...

World Cup Winner, Ossie Ardiles...

Honestly, Ardiles...

what kind of motavation would that give the players?

Doesn't mean a good manager. Look at Bobby Moore, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle etc etc. Whereas a number of other managers were average players at the very best, e.g. Walter Smith, Mourinho, Jim MacLean, Sacchi.

The feeling is that talented players can struggle to explain what comes naturally to them, whilst poorer players have to spend more time listening to coaches etc to get anywhere. I'm worse than any professional, so I should be best of all. Something else to put on my application!

From what I hear tonight, Ardiles has not applied nor is he likely to. Seems to me its another Warnock situation. Invented by press.

Radio Scotland did a great job of inventing an interview with him today then. Maybe they brought in Andrew Sachs to do the impression. Building bridges and all that..............
