Songs..... (again!)

this was sent to the Supporters Club....

to the tune of the Wild Rover...

Follow, we’ll follow (sung to The Wild Rover)

We’re loyal supporters and have been for years

We’ve spent all our money on bus fare and beers

We’ve travelled to places that we’ve never seen

Just to be close to our favourite team.

Chorus

And we’ll follow, we’ll follow

To the end of the earth

Caledonian Thistle

We’ll follow till death.

So come on the Celtic and come on the ‘Gers

Or the Hibees and Tarts cos’ we’re no friends of theirs.

We’ve killed a few giants and we’ll kill a few more

We’ll fight for the day that we hear Hamden roar

Chorus

It won’t be long now till we’re packing our bags

& headin’ for Europe to follow the Jags

Some folk think we’re dreamin’, we’re nuts through and through

But Charlie’s our darlin’, he’ll make it come true

Chorus

c PK

i remember a few other ones about the ferry from thsoe days but not all the words.. one of them started

'all covered in roses, all covered in wine

i cut the poor teacher

from head to the spine  :015:

i went to her funerla

she wasnt quite dead...  thats where the old memory fails me

thank god i left there when i did as alot of my mates not long after that used to get involved in pointless fights with idiots from kinmylies and hilton, remember hearing stories about one fight ending up with somebody getting a huge fishing gaff torn through the back of their leg.!  if any of it ever happened is another matter

maimies song is far too long, ict fans dont even know the words to carefree!

Agreed, I tried belting out carefree at the game against Celtic and noone joined in.  In fact I think some kid started singing the "Lord of the Dance" that we used to be forced to sing at school  :015:

My parents used to listen to pish like Tommy Scott, I'm sure there must be something along those lines that relates to the Highlands that we could make an ICT anthem!

Ok done a wee bit of digging, didn't really take long but there's a song called Scots Wha Hae thats chantable and would sound decent if there was a few of us:

Scots, wha hae wi' Wallace bled

Scots, wham Bruce has aften led

Welcome to your gory bed

Or to victory!

Now's the day an' now's the hour

See the front of battle lour

See approach proud Edward's pow'r

Chains and slavery!

Wha would be a traitor knave?

Wha would fill a coward's grave?

Wha sae base as be a slave?

Let him turn and flee!

Wha for Scotland's king an' law

Freedom's sword would strongly draw

Freeman stand and freeman fa'

Let him on wi' me!

By oppression's woes and pains

By your sons in servile chains

We will drain our dearest veins

But they shall be free.

Lay the proud userpers low!

Tyrants fall in ev'ry foe

Liberty's in every blow

Let us do or dee!

Or whats to stop us just using Flower O' Scotland as our anthem? The fact that Liverpool sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" didn't stop Celtic from adopting it...

There's plenty advantages to using Flower O' Scotland, everyone knows it, its not the sort of song you'd take lightly, I know when I sing it, I belt it out.  Also it has the potential to make the most noise TCS has ever had from its home fans!

That have come over me

In these last few days I've been afraid

That I might drift away

I've been telling old stories, singing songs

That make me think about where I come from

And that's the I don't know if you can see the changes

reason why I seem so far away today

Chorus:

Let me tell you that I love you

And I think about you all the time

Caledonia, you're calling me

And now I'm going home

For if I should become a stranger

You know that it would make me more than sad

Caledonia's been everything I've ever had

I have moved and I've kept on moving

Proved the points that I've needed proving

Lost the friends that I needed losing

Found others on the way

I have kissed the ladies and left them crying

Stolen dreams, yes there's no denying

I have travelled hard, sometimes with conscience flying

Somewhere with the wind

Chorus

Now I'm sitting here before the fire

The empty room, the forest choir

The flames that couldn't get any higher

They've withered, now they've gone

But I'm steady thinking, my way is clear

And I know what I will do tomorrow

When the hands have shaken and the kisses flowed

Then I will disappear

Chorus

obviously we would hav to adopt it to make it shorter

Ah yes, I vaguely remember being subjected to it on various car journeys as a young lad  :017:

My favourite has to be Flower O' Scotland if anything, just for the sheer potential of experiencing a noisy TCS home crowd.

Quite agree - far too long and complicated.

How about this one then - it's sung to the tune of "she'll be coming round the mountain" and relates to a historical quote from a person during a council-level meeting prior to dishing out nine hundred grand towards the new ICT stadium as he/she sought to suggest an alternative way of increasing the profile of Inverness, and was first aired as an impromptu chorus during a 3rd division game at Telford Street:

You can stick yer hanging baskets up yer a**e,

You can stick yer hanging baskets up yer a**e,

You can stick yer hanging baskets, stick yer hanging baskets,

Stick yer hanging baskets up yer a**e!

Yes, I remember the merger one - not really so suitable for a family sing-song though.

Thought you might be able to enlighten us further about that particular meeting CB - I remember hearing about the hanging basket alternative and being quite horrified by it, as I'm sure, were a lot of Caley Thistle supporters!
