This seasons stats Played 38 = won 13,draw 4,lost 21,for 51,against 62, goal difference -11, points 43

Teams that scored less than us; Hearts 47, Falkirk 45, Hibs 49, Aberdeen 50, Motherwell 50

All finished above us.

Teams that conceded more Gretna 83

Stats against Gretna scored 15 conceded 2

Question: At the start of the season did anyone honestly expect us to finish higher than we did? If so what contributed to our failure to do so most?

Looking at the statistics seems clear that we were not tight enough defensively only conceding less goals than Gretna, but we scored more goals than 5 sides that finished above us.

Will we improve next season?

am i the only one who thinks last seaosn wasn't that bad, and the bad recent run has just soured the end-of-season feeling  for most fans.

Obviously there were points to heed and improve on but all in all the team produced some performances to be proud of.

Nice to see another negative thread starting.

My belief though is we spent a whole season trying to build a team around Niculae and it didn't work.

Almost spot on there Alex - we wasted points in the first "round" of matches by continuing to play Marius despite the fact that he was not fit - We then appeared to hit a solution with the 4-5-1 system and the use of Cowie, Black and Rankin - but that fell apart - Rankins fall out and some incredulous swopping and changing- and then when Marius finally started playing we played him out of position and sacrificed the like of Cowie to permit that. The behind the scenes rifts with Rankin, Wyness and Black - and even Munro - evidently had their effect. But I would have said that it was our total ineptitude shown in both the Transfer windows that cost us dearly - The loss of Dods was never really considered and we should have strived to bolster our defence - particularly in he middle - and IMHO we should have perserved with Royster at full back far earlier in the season. Some of the tactics employed in the last 8 games were quite simply embarrassing.

And yet the one thing that we really should have done to redress the situation and give us a fighting chance from the off next season is getting rid of the main person responsible - and perhaps that would have happened if Savage stayed - the Old School ties are still well and truly secured at TCS.

Why be so cryptic  - who is responsible?  Bennett, Sutherland or even Tommy Cumming   :024:

Cryptic ?? Obvious ?? Sutherland, Savage pulling the strings - in different directions - of Grasser and brewster - a feckin disgrace.
