for anyone lucky enough not to have read fridays courier then probably best not waste your money. sports journo linton spouts an amazingly stupid sports comment piece thats wider off the mark than a caley thistle set piece. Is he a ross county fan? (serious question)

He writes:

"surely its in times of adversity when fans have an even bigger part to play than normal?"

true, but he continues,

"getting on their backs is not going to help and neither will will supposed placards or protests at the rangers game.support is what is needed in order for caley thistle to negotiate the troubled waters they currently find themselves in.supporters pay plenty money to watch football these days and are entitled to voice an opinion but i fail to see how negative actions can bring about a positive"

omg. has he watched us this year? brewsters the problem, that much is obvious.maybe some we love brewster songs and banners will encourage the board to get rid of the idiot?

he goes on to add:

"if their aim is to get brewster the sack then that is their prerogative (sp. !).i wonder though, how many have actually thought of a suitable replacement, someone who would be able to step in almost immediately. no obvious name springs to mind, so therefore caley thistles board would need to go down the avenue of paying compensation to get a manager from another club and that could well be a costly affair"

what?surely he is on the wind up now?

he concludes,

" i wonder, however, how much opinion may change if caley thistle can defy the odds and draw with or even beat rangers"

Whislt reading the highland news at work today, i read a quote from brewster that said as soon as we were 1-0 down against aberdeen, the fans were on his case...

that is completely false Mr Brewster, and only goes to show you do not see or hear clearly what is going on at our football club.

At 2-0 we were all calling for rooney to come on, and also chanting ICT throghout - it wasnt until you waited until we were 3-0 down that you finally acted, and only THEN did the banners and chants for your job come to effect.

As for any journalist reading this who thinks the fans should get behind the team and have no idea, you will notice that many names have been mentioned as a potential Brewster replacement - Robbo, Brown, Pressley and even Christie and Wilson - and as mentioned before, we have been at least 2-0 down before chants for brewsters head have been heard.

WE ARE ALL PRO ICT ON THESE FORUMS AND WITHIN THE STADIUMS> ITS YOU AND THE ICT MANAGEMENT AND BOARD WHO ARE BLINDED BY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR CLUB

I sort of agree with him. The players need our backing and support now more then ever. You can argue till your blue in the face that it is Brewster that the fans are getting on the back of, but the simple fact is that this filters its way down to the players, especially when they have such a poor motivator in charge.

I don't agree however that there are not better candidates available.

Agree players need support of the fans, however, with the board clearly not moving and Brewster blind to his errors, I really dont see what other option we have but to voice our displeasure.

In my opinion the board have had it easy since ICT came to be... to my memory we have never actively called for a change of manager. (Pele, Robbo, Charlie and brew all left of their own accord) Surely, the "journalists" must understand that for the core support to reach this stage shows that there is genuine concern for the future of the club and not just a moaning excercise.

This isnt personal to any player and I am fully behind the personnel on the park, Its the dugout thats the problem!

haven't seen anyone wanting to give the players anything other than support on sunday its purely a management issue.how much worse is it going to effect the players anyway, we cant get much worse and we're losing every week.the players know the score as well as anyone. if they're to have a fighting chance of turning this around they need a change of management

This is a badly thought out and ludicrous article...

What Linton is saying regarding compensation is that : There is no obvious name in the frame to replace Brewster so the board would have to go down the road of paying compensation to get a manager from another club, and that would be costly...

No obvious name in the frame?

Most of us can think of at least one....

As a footnote to that article Graham Linton, as per usual, adds a selection of comments (fan mail) pinched taken from CTO.

Three comments appear this week.... Not one of them is suggesting it's time for Brew to go..!!

Do you really think these represent a fair cross section of the fans comments on this site, Mr. Linton?

If he has the club at heart he will decline a wad of cash. 17 months ago Grassa made it clear that we had all misunderstood Brew when he went to Dundee United. Brew did not want ICT to be disadvantaged. Brew can prove that now.

Regardless of this move, bank managers and brokers have had to accept the changed economic climate that does not reward failure. This need not be a sacking if Brew wants to retain his integrity as was the case when he was NOT sacked by Dundee United despite the 3 tiddly wins. Brew's solicitor hold's the key but Brew can over ride him / her. Brew will not want to be the star attraction on Sunday on Setanta after the Rangers game UNLESS the players win it for him. Brew will believe that he can pull it off 'against all the odds'.

Mr Linton, I take it we, as Inverness Caledonian Thistle supporters, are supposed to accept that our club is being run into the ground without a fight? We are 100% behind the team, always have been and ever will be. What we are against is the outrageous way the club is being run at the higher end of the scale. Someone, somewhere, has instilled a lack of confidence in the team, they have also destroyed to camaraderie amongst players and turned them into a bunch of losers. Who's fault is that? It's certainly NOT OURS. Get a grip man and smell the coffee. The sooner normal service is resumed at the TCS the better.

Dear Mr Linton,

Thats right, 9 comments posted on your newspaper's website. All independently giving the same opinion. That the performances thus far are not a coincidence but because of mis-management.

You, however, chose to ignore this, and, with no supporting arguments, mock the support of Inverness. And your credentials as a sports reporter are?

Your articles will be followed very closely from now on Mr lentil head, perhaps you may want to get some substance into your articles next time

What the local press have to realise is that if the continue with this blinkered reporting they might well still get their stories from the club but there will be less and less locals buying their paper. Mr Linton take the time to read another thread on this board regarding an article in the times, you might learn something, even how to become a respected journalist.

How did you find the 9 comments today? Because when I read the Courier articles that one from the Motherwell game has now gone.

I think it may be time to review the gentleman's agreement we have with the Courier that allows them to print a selection of comments from the site.

Our agreement stated that they should be placed in a sidebar in a similar fashion to letters, we never agreed that they could be used as a footnote to any article.

We have (in the past) allowed them to ignore the previous rule and insert comments within articles so long as the comments are in context with the actual story and not used to portray a skewed viewpoint one way or the other.

Our agreement stated that comments used should reflect the "mood" of the fans on the board. In that context, to not even go as far as to show balance by ignoring any comments calling for Brewster's resignation is contrary to the agreement.

Because everything other than the first post in each thread is invisible to guests, the journalist, or someone in his office must be members, and as members have explicitly agreed to our registration terms which include a copyright agreement that states

"Any redistribution or reproduction of part or all of the contents in any form is prohibited. You may not, except with express written permission of the copyright owner, distribute or commercially exploit the content. Nor may you transmit it or store it in any other website or other form of electronic retrieval system."

Who are the sports and managing editors of the Courier these days ?

Nobody is getting on the players' backs Mr Linton and they know it. The protests will hopefully benefit them by bringing about a positive change in their working enviroment and giving them a decent chance to retain their premier league status, jobs and salaries.

As for a suitable replacement; I think my granny may be free to stand in for a few weeks to improve matters while our DoF negotiates contracts with the new management team - if that's not already underway!
