What sort of creature is Sammy the Tammy? I don't think I've ever known.

I was thinking the same today. I think he's some sort of bear.

Imagine the uproar if this happened in a certain Glasgow derby.

Really? His ears are awfully low on his head for a bear. Some kind of design fault on Sammy, methinks.

Hilarious! Some folk on p and b getting their knickers in a twist over this tho! This mascot seemingly has a history of being in trouble seemingly nearly gave the safety officer a heart attack for trying to ski sown the stand railings previously.

What the hell is this world coming to when a bit of harmless fun can be construed as inciting hatred. Christ almighty get a life and a sense of humour everyone. Daily ranker

Oh no........through my window I see some children playing soldiers. Better phone plod and have this mockery of war stopped.

As for the comments of a "rovers fan"........

Rovers fan: THIS WAS A MALICIOUS ATTEMPT TO INCITE HATRED AND IT SHOWED ALL THE DARK AND UGLY SIDE OF FOOTBALL,,IMMATERIAL IF IT WAS JUST A CARDBOARD TANK ,,THE IMAGE WAS THERE,THE SOUND OF BULLETS AND BOMBS WAS THERE,,VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE HAD A FULL SCALE RIOT AND CASUALTYS TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS GUYS ACTION

What with the furore surrounding Neil Lennon being sent bullets and bombs in the post it was an act of crass stupidity by all concerned at East End park .

Give me a break!!! Reminds me of the time I got pulled up for playing "Another One Bites the Dust" because it was viewed as winding up the opposition fans. Of course it was, just as Sammy the Tammy did what he did to wind up the opposition fans and just as Neil Lennon did at the end of the OF game to wind up the Rangers fans.

It's getting so as you can't breath at a football match without someone taking offence....and they wonder why crowds are falling!!!

If it had been done at say an ICT v Dungdee game then I wouldn't have a problem with it , but to do it in such a high pressure local derby was IMHO stupid and it was fortunate there wasn't a riot .

Sorry but I don't think someone dressed as a bear in a cardboard tank with tracks drawn in felt tip pen on the side would ever set me off, whatever the circumstance. Get a grip!

I don't think that the use of a crucifix in the picture is of the best taste and could be seen as slightly bigoted towards christianity in general, otherwise a fairly decent jape.
