Inverness were without Jake Davidson, Charlie Reilly, Connall Ewan, and Lewis Nicolson. Remi Savage started after being injured last week and Keith Bray made the bench. Remi Savage took his place in defence but Keith Bray only made it onto the bench. Academy player Ben Gardiner was called into the squad for the first time. James Nolan shot wide early on and Adam MacKinnon brought out a save from Cammy Gill. That would be the order of the day as chances came and went. However, not so for Montrose who took the lead just before the half hour through Webster who headed in a Gardyne free kick. They doubled the lead ten minutes before the break when Lyons fired high into the net from the centre of the box. That apart, the half consisted of missed chances and saves by Cammy Gill who denied Billy Mckay and Adam MacKinnon amongst others.

Half Time: 2-0

The second half was similar to the first with Inverness probing, missing and Gill saving. However he could do nothing to stop Longstaff drilling into the bottom corner after the hour. Game on, and moreso ten minutes later when Steeves received a straight red card. Billy Mckay and Adam Mackinnon were notably denied by keeper Gill and it was all hands to the pumps for Montrose now but they were powerless to stop Paul Allan slotting in an equaliser in the 88th minute. No more than Inverness deserved for their attacking endeavour. However, we weren't finished and absolute limbs in the 94th minute when Paul Allan's corner ended up in the net for the visitors to snatch a deserved win and three valuable points.

Full Time 2-3 (phew)

A dramatic ending to the game with Paul Allan snatching the win and up until that moment probably the MotM award from Cammy Gill who broke Inverness hearts on at least a dozen occasions throughout the game. When Paul's corner ended up in the net, the MotM award was diverted to the Inverness match winner with Gill holding his head in disbelief.

What a comeback. I doubt this would have happened under Duncan Ferguson's tenure. With his negative approach we would have been more likely to take on another couple of defenders and retain possession. Not for Scott Kellacher who continued to drive his team forward and deservedly got all three points at the death.

Just listened to Kel’s interview, wow. I came away feeling brilliant having listened to it.

I was a doubter, now I’m absolutely not.  Please let this resurgence continue under Kel, things feel like we are ‘Inverness’ again!

Easy to see how we can catch Annan, in fact I’ll be disappointed if we don’t (unless they go on a decent run, of course).

We obviously gave all the other teams a head start due to Ferguson and Administration, but Kellacher is averaging 2 points per game in the league, which is more than the league leaders have managed!

What a remarkable afternoon… and the latest instalment of a remarkable period in the club’s history.

What happened at Montrose was little short of astonishing, with the team coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2, going from a losing to a winning position in pretty well the last six minutes of play. However the match stats are even more remarkable - not so much the 56-44 possession figures but the shot numbers. 19 shots at goal is a formidable achievement and 13 on target an outstanding figure. Three of these resulted in the goals and the other 10 (TEN) were saved by the Montrose keeper. Meanwhile at the other end, there were no saves at all - simply because their two goals came from the only two shots they had on target. A 10-3 corner count simply underlines ICT’s dominance.

The tables I’ve posted here - just after the 15 point penalty in October and on full time today - are encouragingly revealing and really highlight the massive progress (albeit with some help from Dumbarton) since Scott took over. Just five of the 26 games remaining in October have already transformed the situation from a modest hope of scraping the relegation playoffs to a very decent chance of automatic survival.

But let’s not get carried away….

What’s even more impressive, Charles, is that after our (unsurprising given what had happened that week) loss at Dumbarton on 26 October, we were 16 points behind Annan.

Since then, we’ve taken 10 points from 4 games, Annan have taken 2 points from 5 games, so we are 8 behind with a game in hand.

We’ve halved the deficit.

There are going to be bumps along the way but how we bounce back is important both during games and from game to game. To get a win after last week was great and to do it by coming back from two down will help build squad confidence. Onwards and upwards.

Also that goal to win it was something really special.

first, I am as happy as all on here after yesterdays result.
1st look we were 2 down, oh no.

2nd look we were 2-2, great.

Clicked to see who scored for us and it showed 3-2 win, YEEHA.

To my point you have produced a lot of stats, possibly from the BBC game report?

you haven’t mentioned the fact they were down to 10 men from the 74th minute of a 96 minute game that would have/ should have helped move the dominant numbers in our favour.

anyway heading off to the county v rangers game with the kids for my weekend footie fix.

well done to the team yesterday, great to get a late goal to win the game. Nothing better in football.

I was a little more concerned when they went down to ten men as teams who are leading will tend to stick everyone behind the ball to defend the lead and make it tougher to break them down.
