my line about not ignoring what the Coonty-UncRoy isn’t a hit at AS or the club (oors), it’s about being open minded!! Being positive, we are eventually out of Admin, I consider it is an opportunity (with less baggage) to look openly and innovatively at new ideas as well as the standard income models

Just donated this morning to the Ross County under 13’s at Inches Tesco. Half a dozen boys and girls with swinging buckets kitted out in RC strips supported by 4 adults and a kid on a bike doing a sponsor cycle sideline.
Just another one of old uncle Roy’s well oiled machine publicity and coin generating initiatives (on our own patch), that we seem somehow beyond our club.
Noticed plenty of adult celtic and rangers tops also evident on large girths!

Just saying!!

Well done BC.
they are going to Belfast for the Northern Ireland super cup. Each kid costs about £800 for the trip with parents (granda chipping in also) paying £250 and the rest fundraising.

my grandson was in last years u 13 team and had a great time. They have several levels of competition, top teams represented, Celtic, Man Utd, spurs, Bournemouth , Leeds Utd etc. even a team from Chicago.

County were against Linfield, Ballymeana, Stevenage, Bermuda and Glenavon.

your donation might help ict get another Adam mackinnon in a couple of years time.

Grandson was away last week in Madrid with Dingwall academy. They played games and had stadium visits at both madrid grounds as well  as taking in the atletico madrid v real sociedad game, which was 4-0.

i remember back in the early seventies a trip with the Inverness high school footie team was to Forres, Elgin and Banff on a Saturday, where sometimes they would open the school canteen and serve us pie, beans and chips. My, how times have changed.

Aye.  When someone asked recently how we could attract more fans back, the discussion quickly turned to ticket prices.

But my first thought had been "Get known again, through a lot of presence in the town and community!".

Why did you feel the need to donate to 'them' ?

Surely easier to plead poverty and walk by?

To add balance, Caley Thistle had a pop up shop in the big Tesco on two consecutive Thursdays and Fridays, the first being in the lead up to the Arbroath game.

I happened to be in and stopped for a chat and they’d had a lot of interest with a lot of people stopping to chat.

They were in Eastgate at Easter too, with players making appearances.

Community engagement takes time to build, but it is good to see the club trying again.

They were there at the door threshold and couldn’t pass without noticing the RC colours and kids.
Why donate - just habit. Do it for all kids. Cheerleaders trip to Miami, Local schools, Balloan boys. Umpteen other buckets.
Can’t take it with me.

I would think more of Ross County if they fielded the occasional Highlander in their first team.

Or even a Scotsman!

Well, the counter to that is would we, (or more precisely the to be decide new owners) be any different if ICT were in the top league and found that the local youth academy, trained and reared players, don’t reach the level required you go and recruit elsewhere. RC have used many Scottish players (and managers) over the past few years. Just so happens they can get cheaper and better players elsewhere!
I’m sure old Roy would have been delighted to have any youth players in the first team.

My point is Uncle Roy is careful with his money and ruthless enough to get the best deal he can to keep his team in the top league. Whilst financing the whole operation, as said by Charles, (so long as he is around), it is done with precision and efficiency.

The prime objective I understand from AS is to run a far more competent and cost effective club operation once finally out of Administration. If winning promotion from League One (and bringing in much needed more revenue), requires bringing in players from say Kelty or further afield will they reject that route if no highland players are in the team?

PS how much I wished I was donating to a ICTFC under 13’s at Tesco on Sat.

Fair point bc.

I personally felt more of an attachment to the team when they were cherry-picking the best affordable talent the North of Scotland had to offer, and training up their own youth players to the first team.

As the team progressed through the divisions they had to cast the net further afield to be able to compete and I didn't find it so easy to be fanatical about a team comprised primarily of players with little or no connection to the town they were representing.

But I suppose most supporters don't see beyond the colour of the strip, which is why 2000-3000 head for Dingwall every fortnight to watch a bunch of Englishmen, Irishmen, Welsh and foreigners supposedly representing the County of Ross. But no Ross-men. And no Scotsmen!

Bit of a stretch though as Smith and White never actually started. However we’ll take big Jordan back if you’re finished with him. Never thought I would ever say that 😅

If you read the post again it was suggested that RC " FIELDED the occasional scotsman or highlander." Nothing to do with starting.

RC fan ? Never thought I would hear that said about me. 😀

It's a grandad thing. Quality time with 3 grandkids. [ 6 ict season tickets, games at dingwall when ict away] Think I was the only person in the home stand still sitting down when Hale rifled a shot into the top right corner for the opener.

Ps.... if big Jordan came back to US I would definitely.... no won't go there.

As a fellow grandad I was just pulling your pisser… mind you our resident hack tells us (ad nauseam) that the area isn’t big enough for 2 clubs so I commend you for your efforts in underwriting both, though it probably won’t catch on.

Me too.

Hope my post didn’t come across as a rant. looking at it again reminds me of a speech from a First Minister.

Permission to keep “pulling it”.😄

Banter in the car to game yesterday I was singing    “ there going down, county going down.” They were giving it back “ at least it’s not to league 1”.

county were good 1st half yesterday. Found out later Motherwell did an “ Arbroath” and had made multiple changes. One way traffic 2nd half and had 2 very good chances to win the game.

Yes an unusually high percentage of Jocks fielded by RC yesterday - think they were resting their preferred players for the inevitable play-offs!

Jordan White seems to have been reborn as a striker over the bridge. Funny how he never quite did it for us, although tbf he did have his moments. Don't think he gets so much game time now though.

He’s a likeable big guy who has done well to follow (follow) a professional career despite having very limited talent. At least it’s the County fans who have to put up with his dad on the forum nowadays. One County fan was telling me he even uses his real name 🤣
