every time I ventured into that part of Dillies, it always seemd to be Dire Straits that was playing !!!

Was it not the Douglas Hotel before dillies ?

C'mon Charles - bet you were in there at least once - for journalistic reasons of course - !!!

Had some good nights in dillies :drinking01: & not to mention the hayloft :icon_ganja:

It was indeed the Douglas Hotel, had a good few nights in there...  it was in my mind responsible for the demise of the 'Caley' dance hall as night clubs took over.

The Caley was my first experience of dances, what with plastic glasses, sticky carpets, and trying to find a bird to walk home that didnt live at the other side of town!

Firstly may I ask for a moments silence for the Hayloft.......it will  never be replaced. ( fair play to Wayne at the Ironworks for having a go! ) Secondly the Whispers thing...was I really that p*ssed that I never noticed the change! :017:

The best I can do is acknowledge being aware that such an event may or may not have taken place and that I may or may not have been included in such an event. ( I didn't make it back). I do however admit to sharing a tent with the afore mentioned Mr Broon and may never recover from that episode!

Eh shared a hoose wi Mr Broon,an event from which eh will definatley not recover!!the only thing eh mind oh Dillingers wiz sticky carpets.....

Was Dillingers not across the road from the Chinese restaraunt with the 147 Club on top? My gray matter was much affected by Dillengers and the Tryst.  Come to think of it, that turned into an Indian Restaraunt as well!......is there a common link?! I was on my way out when Mr G's opened but can still remember the sticky carpets there and the unique ashtray bouquet!  Is that a restaurant now too (or still a meat market?).

I was too young for the Douglas, but had a few underage nights in the Caley.

I have to admit that I was a regular in Dillingers for a few years. Not too many memories though

Dillies was indeed the Douglas Hotel with the Pink Panther nightclub. I think it was also a failed private club called Cheval. Not sure of the dates though...
