I looked out o'er the Moray Firth at some dolphin playing in the water

And a movement took away my eye, on a rock there stood a soggy otter

Behind I heard a mighty roar and knew the change was coming

The Arabs lost three nil this night, for Caley Europes looming.

Davie, dear Davie, ye lived in my hoose

But ye really must ken that yer telling half truths,

for eh died wa'h back in 1902

yer team wisnae born then, the Hibs?eh say who?

If eh was still aboot in this day and age,

without doubt tis the Dee i'd support and engage

for tragedy was meh forte ye'll ken

and there's plenty oh prose ower at Dens for meh pen

Yer correct wi the Gellions ,a cracking wee haunt,

eh went there wi meh pals,to inspire, no to taunt,

for the teuchters were gents who loved humour and thinking,

but way oot in front was their talent for drinking.

Eh'll end this wee ditty wi meh thought for the day

Cheenge teams?support Caley?

Eh'm sorry, no way,

for much as eh like that fine team by the sea

There's only one team, for me, thats the Dee!

With apologies to William Topaz McGonnagal

I stand in awe Dee, almost as good as dundeebarry on P&B! I fully admit to the "poetic licence" bit, but we really did live in his auld hoose in the hawkie when I was a lad. The date differential is caused by the fact that I ajudged the dead to have an all encompassing vision of wht's happened since, such as the evolution of a decent football team in Dundee.

Yours, Davie.

Was at the Harris when we lived there it's the second close along from the Blackie on the left hand side looking down, my first pint was in mennies when auld Mrs. Mennie ran it, but my local was Wullie Frews. The one thing I remember about Benedetti's was his daughter Marie, who was a humdinger! Also "inhabited" a student flat in Peddie Street which was educational to say the least, and was one of the people who removed the bar from the Tav in the Hawkhill and put it over to the student's union when they were demolishing the place. Was at Duncan of Jordanstone at the time. Those were the days. Good luck to the Dee.

McGonagall has posted this on the preview.

Ach Davie, it's anither disaster

Ye couldnae write it ony faster

It looks as though yer prose' is in vain

An all because oh this feckin rain

But ne'er mind it saves ye's losin

Cos the Arabs wid hae gein ye a doin

Tae the teuchters and all the Irish too

Eh think we'd hae triumphed, 1 tae 2

But next time I'm up a'm goin tae see

The North's finest poet, it's HeilanDee

It's just such a pity his team were deducted

Twenty five points, it's what was instructed
