Hi folks

I have been in talks with the Supporters Trust over the last wee while about getting involved in creating a club for fans based outwith the Inverness area. Specifically for fans that attend away games regularly but don't get to many home games.

The Trust would like this club to come under the the Trust umbrella (in the same way that the CLAN does). We need to know how many would be interested in joining this group. Obviously to be under the Trust umbrella, all members would need to join the Trust (membership is only £1).

Once we have a list of folk in this group as well as benefits of being members of the Supporters Trust, there are various ways in which we can make the match day experience better for us as fans and to help the club on a whole.

For example:

(and I stress for example)

If we have enough members, we could look at hiring a bus to go to a few home games. Maybe home games that many of the members wouldn't have bothered with. We as a group could look at fundraising ideas to make it easier for us to hire a bus. Maybe a raffle or simply costing a cheap bus as the train prices are expensive. Subsequently, the club benefits from more of us attending home games more regularly.

Just say we get to the Scottish Cup Final    (i'm speaking hypothetically here) we could try and secure a small area of Hampden so that we are all sitting together. So fans who socialise together at away games will be able to also watch the game together without one person having to buy lots of tickets at once.

We could also make it easier to communicate the best places to go pre and post match on away days.

Anyway there's plenty of benefits we could discuss for us and the club. First things first, if you're going to the St Mirren game on the 4th August, we will have a get together at the Alamo Bar in Paisley. A few of us will probably be there before 1pm but but if we say 2pm to make it official. (Before anyone questions it, yes the Alamo has re-opened!!!). It is only a 10/15 minute walk from the ground. I believe there will be someone there from the Trust board but if not, Laura has provided me with Trust membership forms, i'll supply the pens and if you can supply £1 then you will be a member. We will then use the details to form the 'Away Fans' club (and we can discuss what we'll officially call it as well  ). Caley Thistle Wanderers gets my vote. On the 4th, we can discuss ideas whilst tasting the famous Alamo pies. It willl be informal and just a discussion to get the ball rolling.

If you are interested but you can't get to the Alamo, then drop me a message. If you also are not a Supporters Trust member and can't get to the Alamo then you can join at the club shop or download the form from http://www.ictsupporterstrust.co.uk/

Right, I think i've covered everything. Hopefully see you all at the Alamo, 2pm, 4th August.

Alamo Bar, 9 Caledonia St, Paisley PA3 2JG

Thanks.

Mark

I suppose there just might be a chance you'll be looking for a seasoned, suitably named, elder statesman to be first honorary president... :lightbulb:

Sounds good, especially for away games at County. Could still work better for trains as if there are enough people on board you are pretty much guaranteed a friends fare which is only a tender return and being honest would be more fun than a bus. Only my opinion. Will certainly join.

Sounds great to me. We would sign up. Anything to make getting to games more affordable, and fun, is good for me.

Mahonio and I could form a North Chapter of the Away Fans club/group. I'm sure I could get into Latheronwheel in time to jump on the back of the hired tandem he will pedal from Thurso..and continue pedalling to Inverness as I sit behind him, feet on the handlebars, rehearsing my regal wave..as in bags me as heid bummer.

But seriously........think that is a really good idea. Shame there aren't enough of us up North (as far as I know) to take part at some level in the same kind of thing.
