[merged] Supporters Club Buses

Actually this was the comment I meant to reply to. This is the official ICT Supporters Club travel, so who are you to say that some of the online clique wouldn't be welcome? Does that mean that you are part of the 'welcome on the bus' clique.

I have to say that I think Kath does an excellent job of running the buses and I'm sure it's a thankless task, but your 'Them' and 'Us' attitude is exactly what puts people off travelling.

On the contrary. The lack of people wanting to travel on this bus is because you cannot drink on it.

So why are a section of fans not welcome on the buses then? Should the "online clique" cancel memberships to the supporters club or any plans they have join the supporters club? A great advert to raise membership you are!!

EDIT- I missed your last post, apologies for that so I will rephrase this, why would any supporter be unwelcome on a bus which is run for supporters? Does the supporters club only welcome a certain "type" of supporter? If this is the case it would seem that there is a fascist undercurrent within the supporters club.

I'm with you on this one. Mabaswa, you actually said at the start of this thread that dornochcaley wasn't welcome on the bus. You've brought up that "some others on gthis forum" wouldn't be welcome either. That, by any reading, is devisive and discourages people from using the bus. criticising "lady F" is no grounds for banning people from using transport to games, it just cuts down on the amount of people there to cheer on the team and reinforces your wee clique.

Okay we will have to agree to differ on this one. The feedback I get is that not everyone wants to stop in Perth and would rather arrive earlier at the destination to meet with fellow fans from all over the Country.

Our half season in Aberdeen highlighted the fun of pre match socialising. I met a lot of people in the Golf Club in Aberdeen who I wouldn't have known otherwise.

I would hope, however, that all Supporters Club members are welcome on the Supporters Club bus, unless there have been behaviour issues causing them to be banned from travelling, which is understandable.

Why is that then, is the supporters' bus only made available to a select few supporters? Why would anyone be banned for anything done out with the bus itself?

Who mentioned anything about anybody being banned from the bus? The supporters bus gets a lot of unjustified stick on this site. A 45 minute stop in Perth is adequete enough time for a few pints and it always gets to the ground in plenty of time.

As for the lack of 'craic', a lot of older supporters use the bus as a means of getting to the games so the 'craic' isn't probably what you're going to be hoping for.

Other comments on this thread highlight exactly why some folk wouldn't be welcome on it.

There is a fine line between being banned and being not welcome. I never knew you owned the busses though and got to decide who are and aren't welcome to ride on a bus simply by comments on an internet forum.

And it is not simply because of not being able to drink, I do prefer to go by train as I can have a drink but that isn't the main reason I don't like the supporters bus. It is the going all the way into Perth through traffic to have a 30 min stop then coming all the way back through Perth again, this takes up an hour just for a 30 min stop. I would prefer stopping somewhere more accessible so not to waste 30 mins driving in and out of a town and also this eats into the time you have before the game. I went to the Hamilton game on the bus last year and we got about 10 mins at the pub everyone was meeting at in Hamilton, would much rather have prefered stopping somewhere on way down that didn't waste near 30 mins driving through a town and then got longer in Hamilton.

So if Lady F reads this thread, which she probably will, and see's people calling her a **** (whatever that is), she should still welcome these people onto the supporters bus?

I would say that the decision should be left to her, not you! Are you a supporters' club official? or just someone wanting to look impotent important.

Well DALNEIGHCALEY knows himself he isn't welcome on the bus after his outburst.

Edit - I'm not a supporters club official, I'm defending Lady F and the supporters bus from anonymous online snipers.

Missed your edit, your defence of LadyF seems to have done more damage to the relationship of the supporters' club with online fans. Maybe someone should come on here and defend the supporters' club from you?

No she doesn't have to WELCOME them on but she should still ALLOW them on as they have done nothing wrong on the bus. When they commit a crime or break bus rules then she has the right to stop them using this service.

And I as have said they don't need or I suspect care to be welcome as long as they are allowed.

Im with you DC. Just because you dislike someone, doesn't mean you can stop them going to a game. I could well miss the game that we win the league (Ayr) because i called some woman a *** on an online forum. Thats rediculous. Not to mention i did apologise.

And Online snipers? Aye, whatever you say.

My so called outburst was an attempt at humour , all I did was type a few asterisks and old itchy balls fell for it hook , line and sinker  On a serious note though I agree with you that it does sound very childish to ban you from the bus after you'd apologised . I've seen the folk boarding the bus and trust me mate you'd have more fun at a funeral by the looks of the majority of them .

Whip the terracing open and let the party begin.

Weather I'd be welcome or not, what you've said on this thread has assured me I'll never go on the supporters bus. Very cliquey.

As I said in my original post...

If the "support" was there - there could be different buses, 1 going straight to the game/pub near the game & 1 going into perth and stopping as usual...

Just for your info... Kath is giving up doing the bus at the end of the season, all because of the comments that are made here

I've split this topic from the other thread.

The conversation is getting very close to crossing the line in terms of what is acceptable. Having an opinion about the service is fine, but users should refrain from personal remarks, name calling and witch hunts. If people can't do that then I will have no hesitation in closing and removing the thread.

As far as I am aware, is it not illegal to drink on any bus now? I know that Megabus, National Express and Citylink all forbid the consumption of alcohol on all of their buses.

Craic on the buses is all about the people on the bus. If there is enough people on there to make a trip worthwhile, then it will be. Just imagine if Govan Jaggie, Nae Lifts, Caley D, IHE, RedCardinWarsaw, Myself, JoeDiMaggio etc... all travelled on the supporters bus to each game....would that make a difference, as there is more likely to be a better atmosphere on the bus?

Like has been said, it seems that a lot of the older gentry use the supporters bus as a means to get to football matches, and that is great - the more people that get to matches that better.

Personally, using an excuse such as 'I cannot drink on it' as a reason not to use it is ridiculous, and beyond stupid. However, a discussion should be made between the organisers, and the patrons what they want and try to come to a conclusion.

The supporters bus is a luxury, it should be used.

After years of being criticised, bad-mouthed, appreciated by only a few, Kath has had enough and is giving up being the Supporters bus organiser. I certainly appreciate all she does for the Supporters Club, but few others realise all the time and effort she puts into the Club. Who wants to take on this thankless task, with this list :-

Every season, bearing in mind countless changes in diesel costs, prices have to be negotiated - this season a 51 seater needed 45 bums on seats @ ?12 (current price per person) to just about break even, a 29 seater cannot break even and a mini-bus likewise. Most buses have run at a loss and so the Supporters Club has to subsidise the cost but this cannot continue. The seat price has to remain competitive with public transport but fund raising events are only attended by a few and requests for other ideas for raising money have been unsuccessful. Over 40 local/national firms were asked for sponsorship of the buses with no joy (replies could be counted on one hand).

The bus convener gets countless phone calls and texts (even when on holiday) for seat bookings (then cancellations as the person is getting a lift, going by train, or worse - not even turning up on the day, thus leaving empty seats which may have been filled. Taking verbal abuse and website abuse, when a bus is not going to a game (Morton for example) despite not enough names to even cover half the cost. Taking abuse when the bus is full (demands for another bus to be put on - even for 5 or 6 - evidently their right to get a seat on a bus) - this hasn't happened whilst ICT in SFL but will likely happen again when we are in SPL. Then there's all the whys - Why are we leaving at that time - we'll be too early, or, what about the roadworks - we'll be late for the start of the game; Why go into Perth, why not go into Perth; Want to go to the pub, don't want underages near a pub; Want to sign on the bus, don't want singing(!). (PS I have tried to encourage singing a few times but all the young boys up the back preferred to sleep!).

So, who has the answer ? And, more importantly, who will organise the buses in future - bearing in mind that the rule of "no alcohol on football buses" is strict and if any booze is found in the bus, the driver, the Club and the organiser of the bus are liable to receive heavy fines. It isn't Kath's rule, it's the Police's, and the bus HAS

Sorry - hit end and wasn't finished!

The bus HAS been searched in the past and no alcohol found - other buses travelling from the city have fallen foul of this law.

I leave it up to you, Supporters, doubtless I will get plenty flak for even daring to put this on the website. My skin is much thinner than Kath's and I don't have a Bob to help. I take offence easily so no calling me a **** as I am unsure quite what is meant. I won't get to the away games either if there's not a Supporters bus and NO I will not be the bus convener as I couldn't take the stress. No thanks.

Incidentally I saw IHE give Kath a hug/kiss at the QoS game so he's a fan of hers, despite not being able to get a seat on a Supporters bus from Chorley.
