Scott Gardiner was extremely impressive on Sportsound stating a factual time log of events and reasons for clubs vote.

We looked like adults in the room today.

Well done.

I missed it this afternoon glad Mantis put the clip on for us to hear.  I was impressed with Scott Gardiner being open and honest with what happened.  What will be said next week I wonder!

What an excellent example of full and honest communication from our CEO. Well done to the club and well done to him personally.

A stark contrast to the way his predecessor conducted herself and in very stark contrast to the way that Dundee FC and the SPFL are conducting themselves just now.

Very proud of our club showing this level of transparency just now when we are all so very much in the dark.

Rangers refusing to hand over evidence of mismanagement in regards of the vote to the SPFL to begin an investigation. Good idea in my books, SPFL might "not receive it"...

Unless Dundee pull their finger out and inform the spfl board (again) then it looks like the collusion between those involved has come to nothing.

Is it good to be open and honest about posting each other's voting slips so as to engineer a desired outcome in these matters?

Having listened to Stewart Gilmour (excuse any spelling mistakes) I would agree that our CEO did a very good job but let's not be blinkered here. Our board would not be doing their job if they disregarded our current play off position to potential SPL promotion so the published reason to vote NO was not our only reason.

He also claimed we were the form team in the league because Dundee utd were struggling. Shows how much he knows about us. We lost our centre half's in January. Our best player is constantly injured. It is debatable whether we would finish second never mind get promoted. Taking the guaranteed second place prize money when we have no guarantee of it. Essentially its all pointless as there will be no way to play out the season anyway. So don't take his thoughts on our predicament too seriously.

This report states "The SPFL say they received a voting slip from Dundee on their ballot to curtail the lower leagues, but only after the club emailed to say their vote should not be considered as cast."  Just have a think about that statement.

Voting slips were sent electronically.  You click a button at one end and, lo and behold, it arrives at the other end within a few seconds.  The SPFL seem to be saying that the email was sent after the voting slip but somehow arrived well before it.  Or are they saying that Dundee only sent the voting slip after they sent an email to say their vote (which they hadn't actually submitted at that point) should not be considered as cast?  It is absolutely absurd.  But the detail will be available in the electronic record.  There will be proof of when Dundee sent their voting slip and when it was received.  Dundee need to produce the evidence of when the slip was sent and the SPFL need to produce the evidence of when the slip was received.  It will either show that  Dundee were lying through their teeth when they told others clubs that the slip had been sent, or that the SPFL were lying when they said they hadn't received it.  Could the slip have been held up in the electronic ether?  I don't know, but if it was, it would be the most extraordinary coincidence that such a glitch occurred just at the point when Dundee decided that they had made a mistake in casting their vote the way they had and took the highly unusual (and probably not valid) step of sending an email to effectively cancel their vote.

The Sun is now reporting that Dundee had discussions with the SPFL yesterday with a view to linking a Yes vote to league restructuring.  And then there's the Rangers' allegations!  It looks as though we are in for an interesting week ahead.

If it was all done by email then this is possible. The one with the voting slip would have that file attached to it, and email systems will often quarantine emails with attachments, the rules for doing so can include the type of file attached, for virus checking/security. The other email could pass right through and be received straight away while the security checks are being done on the other. So from a technical viewpoint both Dundee and the SPFL can be right. You are correct however that there will be an electronic record of the times they left the Dundee mail system and arrived at the SPFL one, and the SPFL mail system would record if the voting slip was quarantined then delivered. Someone knowing the workings of email systems could make an educated guess on the types of files that would be held, and so deliberately send an email they know will be delayed in receipt so that they can send something later which will be received first.

Not that I am saying that anyone has worked the system here, just that is it possible and more details are needed to be sure.

Odd that such a principled stance by the ICT CEO should be cited and used as back up by TRFC, a club not exactly known for being driven by any principle other than self interest.

You mean something like this?

IF {vote response}= “Reject” AND (sum of “Reject” > 2), action = “quarantine indefinitely”

Could they not just have created a Whatsapp group, like the championship clubs used to look at each other's votes?

Email is so 20th century.

From the Daily Record:

As for Scot Gardiner, the Caley Thistle chief executive who had his day in the limelight during that Sportsound bunfight?

He’s been hailed for “offering the fans clarity”, but in truth he cleared up nothing.

All he did was klype on Dundee for ticking ‘No’ on their ballot paper then failing to get it in on time.

Great radio and a story that filled acres of space in every Sunday paper, but a contribution that seemed more than a tad stage-managed, particularly when the former Rangers employee and lifelong fan had to take his dog Cooper for a pee just as Douglas Park was making his “we will not be silenced” statement.

For the record, this is also the same Scot Gardiner who, as chief executive of Dundee, accepted the SPL’s 2012 offer of a promotion they hadn’t earned after Rangers were relegated over their financial implosion.

It’s also the same Scot Gardiner who left a similar role at Hearts at the height of the fiasco over their new Main Stand project — remember when they forgot to order seats for it? — and the same Scot Gardiner who went to Caley Thistle just in time for their main investors to walk away and the wolf to start scrabbling at the door.

That he’s now been held up as a hero in one of Scottish football’s darkest hours just about says it all.

Load of baws. All he said was that he got the confirmation message through that the vote had been cast, the Dundee Head swore hand on heart it had been and that he thought it was a technical error when it said Dundee hadn't voted.

Got a slight feeling that the writer of this article is a C*unty fan...

What a p1sh article from the Record.
Gardner simply stated the information he had access to without passing judgement or making allegations. WTF does the bit about previous clubs have to do with any of this?! If Gardner had stayed silent football fans and journalists would be completely in the dark about what happened and the Record would instead be writing an article slating the secrecy of the process and absence of anyone being willing to talk!
