Graham Girvan - 16 Year Old Defender

Not being linked with us but Celtic & Bolton

Say what you like about our neighbours but there youth policy really seems to be bearing some fruit  :025:

Are these kids a product of RC's youth policy or are they the fruits of the Highland Academy which is based in Dingwall and which we are also involved in.

Frankly i think its embarassing that we are so far behind in our youth system, it is now clear that there is talent in the area but why are County the only ones that seem to be having any success bringing talent through? We are now an established SPL team, its about time we had a youth system that reflected it.

well for starters, it might help if the club had some decent training facilities

Highland Football Academy? ?

It may be located in Dingwall, but it's a joint venture.

Add another name to the list - Mark Ridgers (any relation??) - Goalkeeper  - Celtic sniffing

Lest we forget...................Mike Fraser, Zander Sutherland, Stuart Soane, Johnathan Smith...........all came into the SPL first team through our youth squad and I've no doubt more will follow. I believe that had we still been in the lower divisions those lads would be regulars. As it is its very hard to break through to the top league. Even the OF and the top teams south dont bring through that many.

Ross County do seem to be well ahead of us in terms of aving a successful youth policy.

It may seem like that but a fair few are sourced from down south(glasgow etc)theres not many that are actully from the highlands.

so why do the team train at charleston school pitches or out at ardesier then?

That's for outdoor training.  The 'Highland' football Academy, was conveniently built at Victoria Park, but we do use it also for indoor training.  Obviously it's used more in the winter by the 1st team, but the youth teams use it throughout the year.

Half of the 'amazing' wonderkids who leave lower league clubs to the big boys end up working in MacDonald or, if they are lucky, playing for Albion Rboers.

The pitches at Charleston ARE part of the Highland Soccer Academy and were heavily invested in and upgraded as far as i know. They are by no means poor
