Some dire football being played today.

McCaffery looked good but the rest were mediocre.

A couple of exciting moments in 1st half when the St Mirren keeper made two good saves.

Apart from that my feet got colder and colder.

Zibi also had a couple of good saves and the main thing Caff was noticeable for was his shouting. Richie Hart and Graham Bayne were industrious as always, Ian Vigurs looked good but his crosses (shots? surely not) were going straight to their keeper.

MoM - Buster, John Rankin's wee dog who stole the show  :003:

Windy afternoon ruined any chance of silky football

First decent chance to us around 22 mins, when Bayne took cross on chest and layed it off to Bazza who shot from18 yards with left foot but it flew a couple of yards over. Bayne in fact might have been better trying to knock the ball over the keeper but he elected to lay it off.  Zibi then blocked a drve from 8 yards low to his left.  Free kick to us and from 26 yards Bazza curled a shot towards the keepers top right but he clawed the ball away for a corner, good save.  Plenty posession and forward breaks from us but no penetration.  Bayne looking decidedly ordinary against buddies reserves. St Mirren then had a wee flurry of activity and a shot from edge of box sailed over.  Scrappy stuff overall in the blustery conditions.  Sweeping move around the thirty six minute mark saw Bazza cross to Bayne who layed it off for Hart and he hit a decent left footer from 22 yards to the same corner Bazza's free kick went, but once again the keeper was equal to it and produced another top drawer save.  From resultant corner, wee scramble but ball hacked clear eventually.  Soon after clearest chance of the game for Mirren as they burst to life and a free header from six yards went harmlessly over.  Mirren shot deflected for corner but Rossco cleared as the half time approached.

Second half saw no change to pattern of play or team selections.  Guy Kerr booked for late trip on forward trying to burst through, no complaints there. Deep corner from Mirren saw a shot wide left from eight yards.  Great sliding power tackle from Rossco saw him set up another attack, Rory flicked on to Bayne but the move fizzled out.  Around the fifty five mins good cross and shot by Saints saw Zibi make a comfortable clutch to his midrift.  Good handling and distribution by him most of the game, barring one low driven clearance, but he got away with it.  Hart was starting to find room to drive at the heart of the Mirren defence but the shot or last pass was always blocked by the hard working Mirren defence.  Another run by Hart saw Vigurs hit a shot across the keeper but again he parried the ball to safety.  Mirren next to show and a tasty cross had the wifies gasping, but there were no takers at the far post.  Seventy minutes and Rory tried a dipping lob volley which went fairly close but the keeper looked happy with it going wide.  Dean Macdonald came on for Dale Gillespie.  Game frittered away after that as the windy conditions took it's toll.  Plenty of effort but alas no goals.  Dale tried hard but could not get into the game and it passed him by, but the same could be said for 'cult hero' Deano, he came on and never had a look in. Zibi looked good with quick distribution and cool kicking and passing.  Of the real reserves, Guy Kerr looks to be an outstanding prospect and Iain Vigurs has a great left peg.  Bazza Hart and Rossco looked good and Morgan twisted and turned but could not find the killer pass or shot.  And Rory, he battered away, had some half chances but like everyone else the wind probably was the winner today.  Bayne was mostly ineffective and his control was, well, what control.  He lost more ball than he won, lets just say it was very windy.

Hardly a classic - but then neither are many 1st team matches...

I would have made the St Midden keeper MOM - two or three top class saves, combined with safe & confident handling ensured they were unlikely to lose a goal.

Didn't feel Zibi inspired quite so much confidence - especially from the 3 wifies sat behind me who screamed hysterically into my lugs every time the ball came anywhere near him.....  :crazy07:

Still... they did provide a welcome mug of hot steaming coffee at half-time... Thanks Eliza...  :014:

Interesting way of announcing it!

No real surprise though.

There was an article posted on official site earlier in the day. Morgan is surpluss to requirements and his contract is not being renewed. Brew feels the lad will benifit from finding a team where he'll get regular first team football.

no disrespect intended Alex, and not that its a huge issue, but the reserve game report was published 2 hours and 49 minutes earlier than the announcement about his contract not being renewed. I can assure you that although the report was there earlier in the day, the announcement was not. It was reading that part of the reserve report that surprised me into making my comment !!!!

How do you tell when a story is published on that site?

I assumed, because the Morgan story is below the Reserves one on the home page, that it must have been published earlier

The source code for each story is timestamped automatically by the server or site software.

Although there are probably a few differences between the PTV system and this site or even SportNetwork (which may be a better example), you can usually display stories in any order you want and can further distinguish stories that are to be given more prominence as front page stories.

According to the club, the stories were published at the same time ..........
