There will be five European places for Scottish teams from season 2009/10 with this summer's Intertoto Cup the last before Uefa Cup qualification changes.

And Iain Blair wants to take the little bit of glory away from the Scottish Cup runners up. Sorry but if you are a team who has worked their socks of to reach the final against an already qualified for Europe team than why shouldn't you get that we bit extra glory. After all if you win the SC you qualify.

Geez Alex, you're sounding like one of those bearded councillors with organic sandals, who want to abolish school sports day because not all the kids win.

A team doesn't work their socks off to reach the final, they just play a few games, some against lower league opposition. It's hardly comparable with s 38 game league season against the best teams in the country.

In recent years, cup runners up Dunfermline, Gretna and Dundee Utd have all been embarrassed in the qualifying round of the UEFA cup, and QoS are about to add to the erosion of our coefficient.

Yep, and three of those clubs you mention were among the best teams in the country at the time of playing in europe. What your saying is, if ICT finish fifth in the league and make it as losing SC finalists against one of the first, second or third teams above them this season they dont deserve the chance in europe.

typical spl...yes it might look bad, a non spl team gettin into europe and they wont do anythin but neither would majority of spl teams

its money for teams and gettin to final of sc is a big bonus especially if team has already qualified...seem to remember ict being in a similar postion (if they won, year they played dunfermline i think??) and i doubt you would have complained

Correct, it wouldn't be deserved. But I'd still be there in Moldova, Iceland or wherever.
