I can't say I'd heard of the guy but what a really sad story. All ICT fans should read D_B's link.

R.I.P :)

The guys that left him should be ashamed

I see your point but if bringing them down endangers others....

It is normal to leave climbers bodies up there, some have been there for decades

No they should't.

They left a 29 year old blind man to freeze to death scared and alone. I would be feeling pretty ashamed

I realise that in these sad circumstances, this may not be the place to start an argument, but that remark, no doubt made by someone who knows absolutely nothing about the circumstances, is stupid in the extreme.

R.I.P. I dont think we should jump to conclusions about what happened here. rescues on mt Everest are notorously difficult and Im sure no one would have taken the decision to abandon him easily.

I'm sure that's right. It sounds that they made every reasonable effort to rescue him and he was only abandoned when it became clear that any further effort was futile and would imperil the rest of the group. Those who engage in extreme altitude mountaineering appreciate the riks and the brutal consequences of such an unfortunate happening.

If I had to die, I suppose there are worse ways to go than at the top of the world doing something I love, not long after I'd seen ICT scale their own Everest.

I go to school with the boy's brother and couldn't believe what happened, and feel horrible for the family, especially considering the circumstances.

sympathy to his family and friends, R.I.P.

How very sad. RIP Peter, you died doing what you loved and climbed your biggest mountain and, to do it wearing ICT colours, you put yourself and the club on top of the world.

I hope someone from the club reads this. The least we can do is hold a minutes silence for his passing before the next match.

RIP Fella......al wager not too many team colours have made it to the top of the world!

Good suggestion.

Agreed and an obituary in the matchday programme would be nice. How many fans really follow their dreams? I admire the man for his drive and commitment.

May his family find some comfort that he died doing what he loved.

very sad news. agree with all the posters who say we should remember his passing in some form at a future match.

I e-mailed Darren tonight with the suggestion. Is Kenny perhaps the man to talk to though Scotty? A fitting tribute would be our first SPL match.

I think Darren will certainly bring it to Kenny's attention if he doesnt already know about it
